Midcentury ranch-style homes on manicured lawns
Often regarded as America’s first suburb, Levittown was developed as residential sections in the early 1950s. Most of Pinewood was built in 1952, and though most homes date back to that year, many have been expanded or torn down and built anew. Set on manicured, sidewalk-framed lawns, the neighborhood’s ranch-style and Colonial Revival homes typically range in price from $307,000 to $590,000. Pinewood has a CAP Index Crime Score of 3 out of 10, which is lower than the national score of 4.Recreation at Pine Lake Park
The central Pine Lake Park, adjacent to Walt Disney Elementary School, is the neighborhood’s local park. The tract of green space holds a playground and is home to the Pinewood pool, which is open seasonally. Residents can walk to the neighboring Lakeside neighborhood just south to access Levittown Lake. The body of water offers a scenic backdrop for walks, and the boat ramp at the southernmost edge allows for kayaking and canoeing. The Levittown Continental Little League practices at Mill Creek Sports Complex in Pinewood, which has multiple baseball fields. The neighborhood is also close to the Falls Township Community Park, one of Levittown’s most popular parks. The large recreational area features a dog run, athletic fields for both soccer and baseball, and more. Locals can fish from the pier on the 70-acre Falls Township Lake or simply take in the views from waterside walking paths. The park also hosts some of the community’s larger gatherings, like the Touch-A-Truck Festival, an event that allows younger residents to get up close to vehicles operated by first responders, construction workers and others.Highly rated education in Pennsbury School District
Students are part of the Pennsbury School District, which earns an A from Niche. Kids may start at Walt Disney Elementary School, centrally located in Pinewood, before advancing to Pennsbury Middle School. Both receive A-minus grades from Niche. “Back in the day, most of the neighborhoods housed a school, so for Pinewood to still be centered around a school is a plus for residents,” Irvine says. With a 93 percent graduation rate, the A-rated Pennsbury High School is ranked the seventh-best public high school in Bucks County. Students can participate in the high school’s top-rated athletics department, which includes the Falcons basketball, baseball, soccer and bowling teams. The school also offers an Applied Engineering program to help prepare students for careers in technology, engineering and electronics.Major thoroughfares Interstates 95 and 295
Pinewood sits just off of Bristol Pike, which connects drivers to Interstate 95. Via I-95, residents can get to the heart of Philadelphia within 27 miles. Bus stops served by SEPTA provide public transit options that connect to Trenton, New Jersey and Philadelphia. Residents may take domestic flights from the Trenton-Mercer Airport, or they can jet-set internationally at the Philadelphia International Airport.Local conveniences at Levittown Town Center
Just south of Pinewood, the Levittown Town Center is a convenient shopping center with Walmart, Home Depot and a handful of fast-food chains like Wingstop and Taco Bell. Local pit stops in the Town Center include Bakery Bethlehem and Ariana’s Pizzeria and Italian, which serves up classic and signature pies. Keystone Bagels is a popular fixture for its rustic interiors and wide assortment of bagels, schmears and sandwiches. Additional grocery options nearby include Aldi, ShopRite of Fairless Hills and Giant.
