Brandt Crossing
Neighborhood in Fargo, North Dakota
Cass County 58104
Convenient amenities drive housing prices
While homes in Brandt Crossing fit in with nearby subdivisions, featuring similar vinyl-sided modern traditional designs, they garner a bit more on the market due to the increased convenience of the neighborhood. Sitting on lots that are no bigger than a quarter acre, most feature flat lawns and young landscaping, with white privacy fencing tracing along property lines. Stone exterior accents are typical, while modern interiors often feature wood and stone accents and wood-grain flooring. While there are a handful of twin homes and ramblers, most are 2-story free-standing single-family units with two- or three-stall garages – many residents enjoy the extra space for cold-weather tools and toys. Twin homes often go for between $250,000 and $325,000, while 3-bedroom single-family homes sell for $275,000 up to $440,000. Those with four or more bedrooms – almost always featuring that third garage stall – sell for prices starting at $325,000 and reaching up to $625,000. Overall, the cost of homes is generally $50,000 to $60,000 above the metro average. There are also an above-average number of apartments in this neighborhood, offering a lower entry point for those who want to live there but might not be ready for owning a home.Highly walkable, with fast access to key Interstates
Not only are the schools easily accessible by walking or biking, but retail and dining are also nearby for pedestrians. Public transit is limited, so most residents in the neighborhood continue to be car-dependent for the bigger errands. Heading into Downtown Fargo is a 7-mile trip that usually takes around 15 minutes, helped out by easy access to Interstates 94 and 29. Hector International Airport is 8 miles away but also reachable in around 15 minutes, thanks to its location just off I-29.Some Brandt Crossing students may never step on a bus
For most students in Brandt Crossing, walking to school will be the norm from kindergarten through graduation. Public school students start at Independence Elementary School, which gets a B grade from Niche and is located on the neighborhood's southern edge. For middle and high school, students head to the combined campus less than a mile away. Liberty Middle School is graded a B-minus, while West Fargo Sheyenne High School – home of the Mustangs – earns a B rating. With successful athletics programs in tennis, softball, and the 2024 championship-winning boys' basketball team, Sheyenne is rated as the seventh-best high school for athletes in North Dakota. It also gets a high rating for academics, with Niche rating it the third best College Prep Public High School in the Fargo area.Parks connected across the region
Running down the middle of the neighborhood, the concrete pathway connects the parks of Brandt Crossing while branching into neighboring Urban Plains and Osgood, providing safe biking and walking throughout the community. Tony Schmitt, Park Director of Fargo Park District parks, explained that continued development into the Southern parts of Fargo always works with the District to try and provide for neighborhood parks with each expansion. Valley View Park, connected to the elementary school, features a play area and four pickleball courts. Brandt Crossing Park features a basketball court and a playground and is home to a dog park with separate sides for large dogs and small dogs, allowing for off-leash socializing and play.A unique tea room and south-of-the-border flavors
Brandt Crossing residents can start their mornings with a boost from Scooter’s Coffee or relax in the homey, chic Chai Moto, where they handcraft tea blends inspired by their East African roots. The American bar and grille is alive and well in the neighborhood – The Tavern Grill is a small midwest chain, offering burgers, pizzas and other pub favorites in a laid-back atmosphere. Southtown Pourhouse offers some unique menu items, like battered Walleye Fingers and State Fair Cheese Curds. With over 30 TVs, games are always on, especially NDSU football or University of North Dakota hockey. Tacos Trompo features Mexican street food favorites for take-out, while Puerto Vallarta focuses on sit-down meals with a focus on seafood in a bright, seaside-influenced interior. Adjacent to the neighborhood, Hornbacher’s is a regional staple for groceries, but for other home necessities, residents have to head north to Costco or up 45th Street, where they’ll find The Home Depot, Kohl’s, Scheels and other major retailers clustered near Fargo Plaza.Medical center drives the market forward
Sanford Medical Center, one of the largest medical centers in the region, provides 24-hour emergency care and towers on the horizon a mile north. “A lot of smaller town patients and people come to the medical center here, and Sanford brings a lot of jobs to the city,” says Budhiraja. Opened in 2017, it’s one of the tallest buildings in the city. The Adult Trauma Center and Pediatric Trauma Center are some of the most advanced in the region, making Sanford the key trauma service provide through the eastern sides of North and South Dakota and much of western MinnesotaFriday nights and The Lights
Friday night football at Sheyenne brings families out, but it’s not the only game in town. Residents in Brandt’s Crossing have plenty of opportunities, from events at The Lights, which is only a mile west of the neighborhood, to watching the Fargo Force of the USHL at Scheels Arena, which is only a half mile for some residents. Mike Amundson, Executive Director at West Fargo Events, points to the annual Pro Bull Riding Event as one of his favorites. For cultural events, West Fest in West Fargo is a big draw, while Red River Valley Fair is the biggest party in town, drawing in hundreds of thousands of attendees over three weekends in late June and early July.
