Lake Lorelei
Neighborhood in Fayetteville, Ohio
Brown County 45118
Boating and beach recreation along the lake
This community derives its name from its central lake, which was created in 1968 as the merger of three separate bodies of water. Its name derives from a prominent rock along Germany's River Rhine, and its streets, like Cologne, Dusseldorf and Dortmund Drives, recall the central role that German culture plays in southwestern Ohio. “Our streets are named after German places; we just had our first Oktoberfest this year,” Fehr says. Decades after its creation, this 197-acre lake is surrounded by 10 access points, dozens of cabanas and a pavilion open for lakefront parties. West Beach offers a stretch of lakeside recreational opportunities and will soon host the Lake Lorelei Club House, projected to open in the mid-2020s. Residents often launch their boats from their backyards or from the community’s marina and embark on waterborne adventures. A Fishing Committee and Activities Committee are just two of the many clubs that set up seasonal community events, including a summer kickoff party marked by pickleball, cornhole and tug-of-war competitions. In addition to these pre-arranged events, neighbors can set up impromptu volleyball, disc golf, mini-golf and basketball games at the community’s sports facilities.Retail and restaurants are accessible within 20 minutes
Lake Lorelei’s isolated location both adds to its charm and puts the nearest grocery conveniences around a 10-minute journey away. This community’s Marina Store stocks residents with snacks, spirits, fishing equipment and propane tanks, but Fayetteville is where residents commute for shopping and dining. In addition to a Dollar General, Kiley’s Market serves as Fayetteville’s other grocery venue, offering essentials like cereal and bread within its small retail floor. Dining options include the vintage-themed Pike Street Bar & Grill, an outpost of the Skyline Chili diner chain and SheBrews Coffee, a small business offering breakfast blends and Amish-baked pastries. 20 minutes south of Lake Lorelei, Mount Orab is home to the nearest Kroger and a few more restaurants.Properties from the 1960s mix with 2010s builds
Founded in 1968, Lake Lorelei offers a mixture of homes built in the mid-20th century and properties finished as recently as the mid-2010s. Ranch-style homes built since 2000 tend to sell for between $350,000 and $450,000, while smaller houses built from the 1960s to 2000 have sold for between $185,000 and $350,000. Older properties with home sizes exceeding 2,200 square feet have attained sale prices between $600,000 and $725,000. Homes may sit along the waterfront and include backyard boat launches, or they may be located along heavily foliated residential lanes further inland. Quiet Lake Lorelei's CAP Index score of 1 indicates a negligible risk of crime.Healthcare and daily conveniences are just around the corner
Lake Lorelei’s location in rural Brown County puts residents nearly an hour’s drive away from Cincinnati, but most conveniences are local. Shopping is just 10-20 minutes way in either Fayetteville or Mount Orab, while Mount Orab puts the Mercy Health medical center less than 25 minutes around the corner from home.Students attend Fayetteville's school system
Students attend the Fayetteville-Perry Local School District, starting out at Fayetteville-Perry Elementary School, which Niche gives a C-plus rating. Fayetteville-Perry Middle School receives a B and Fayetteville-Perry High School a B-minus. The high school forges a strong student community through smaller than average class sizes, extracurriculars like student council and FFA and an extensive offering of “Rockets” sports programs.
