Shoreline sanctuary in the suburbs
Twin Lakes, named for Lake Lorene and Lake Jeane, started as a planned community in the 1960s and is now a shoreline sanctuary with views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. With rainforest hikes, beaches and a country club, Twin Lakes offers high-class recreation in suburban Federal Way, a town between Seattle and Tacoma. “There are some older waterfront homes here,” says Avinesh Pillay, Real Estate Broker with Skyline Properties, Inc., with over seven years of experience. “People who buy property can go hiking, swimming and boating on the lake. It’s a desirable place to be.”

Waterfront homes on the bay or Lake Jeane
Waterfront homes overlook the blue Dumas Bay, and lakefront communities surround Lake Lorene and Lake Jeane. "People love the 5-minute drive to the waterfront," Pillay says. "Many families work from home, and there are a lot of different education options." Residential streets with cul-de-sacs climb and descend upon the hilly landscape. Twin Lakes primarily includes split-levels and raised ranch-style homes with finished basements or second-story additions. Some have garages as well. Home prices typically range from $400,000 to $750,000. Traditional homes go for $710,000 to $1 million, and housing prices vary depending on proximity to the waterfront. "A new population is moving to the neighborhood," Pillay says. "People are looking to do business in the area, and more houses are being built there." Most condos cost between $200,000 and $400,000, but prices can rise up to $650,000 for a unit in the gated 55-plus community of The Palisades At Dash Point.
