A more affordable option than Flagstaff proper
Roughly 12 miles northwest of Downtown Flagstaff, Flagstaff Meadows is a development made up of new homes in the unincorporated community of Bellemont, a bedroom community of Flagstaff proper. Largely removed from commercial development and surrounded by state forest land, Flagstaff Meadows offers quiet residential living outside of the city. “You’re kind of away from the hustle and bustle of Flagstaff,” says area resident Billie McGraw, an associate broker with Village Land Shoppe. “Because it's a little way outside of Flagstaff, you can get a little more bang for your buck as far as home prices go.”
The neighborhood is home to Flagstaff locals looking to stretch their dollar in an area with increasing prices. “Flagstaff prices, especially since Covid, have skyrocketed,” says longtime Flagstaff resident Eileen Taggart, an agent with Re/Max Fine Properties. “We’re a small city with limited inventory. Ever since Covid, anyone and everyone who can get out of the city and work remotely came to northern Arizona. In the southwest, anyone who can work remotely has Flagstaff on their radar. Flagstaff Meadows is good for people who have a budget they need to stick to but still want to get a high-quality home with a yard that is close to Flagstaff without the Flagstaff costs.”

Housing from the 2000s with more affordable new builds than the Flagstaff average
The still-developing neighborhood of Flagstaff Meadows is made up of homes built throughout the 2000s. Homes were built with New Traditional architecture, and buyers can find both single-story ranch-style and two-story builds. Single-family homes range from around 1,300 square feet to 2,000 square feet and go for anywhere from $500,000 to $650,000 depending on the floor plan. For townhomes with around 1,500 square feet, buyers can expect to pay somewhere in the mid $400,000s. “It’s really hard to find something in Flagstaff in the $400,000 to $500,000 thousand range that doesn’t need a lot of work,” McGraw says. “You can get into something new here at an affordable price point, where something new in Flagstaff is $800,000 and up,” McGraw says. “The yard sizes are bigger than the new home developments currently being built in Flagstaff.” Homes sit on well-landscaped lots up to 10,000 square feet, and most have street-facing two or three car garages fronted by sidewalk-lined streets.

A small community park and short trails
On the north side of the neighborhood, Bellemont Park is the local hangout, where residents are often found picnicking or grilling at the pavilion with neighbors. Park goers of all ages can shoot hoops at the basketball court and enjoy the open green space, while the playground is the spot to be for neighborhood kids. With the neighborhood’s proximity to undeveloped forest land, there are several short forest trails for residents to access. “Because there’s all that state forest land behind the development, there’s a big two track at the end of the neighborhood, so you can take your four wheelers or go mountain biking or hiking,” McGraw says.

A commute along Interstate 40 or Route 66 for shopping and dining
While there aren’t many commercial options in the Bellemont area near Flagstaff Meadows, there’s a Subway and a McDonalds inside the local truck stop. “Bellemont has a potential growth opportunity, I would be surprised if in the next 5 years we don’t see a restaurant or a small grocery store,” McGraw says. In the meantime, locals can head roughly 12 miles east on Interstate 40 where there are options within a mile of the exit on South Milton Road. Residents can pick up their groceries at Walmart or Bashas’ here and stop into Kohl’s or Target for retail shopping. There are plenty of popular chain restaurants here as well, like Olive Garden and Red Lobster, in addition to locally owned spots like Taverna Modern Mediterranean for Greek favorites and happy hour cocktails.
Route 66 also called Milton Rd has many restaurants and shops.
