Flagstaff suburb with trail access
Set about 4 miles northeast of Downtown Flagstaff, Swiss Manor is a residential suburb of ranch-style and custom-built homes at the base of Mount Elden. “This neighborhood is perfect for those who need larger homes with schools, parks and trailheads seemingly out their back door,” says Cody Bauer, Realtor for the Foundation Group at Best Flagstaff Homes Realty, who lives in the area. Sections of the Flagstaff Urban Trails System are accessible along the neighborhood’s northern border, while shops and restaurants sit just beyond its southern boundary. Interstates 40 and 17 are nearby, and while cars are the main source of transportation here, sidewalks line some residential streets. Nearby houses of worship include The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Peace Lutheran Church and Trinity Heights United Methodist.
Ranch-style and custom-built homes
Swiss Manor’s homes are mostly ranch-style houses set along wide streets lined with mature pine trees, and most have views of Mount Elden. Built between the 1970s and ‘90s, these typically feature front or cross-gabled roofs, brick or wood siding and rounded front entryways; driveways are sandwiched between stone-edged flowerbeds and most have two-car garages. Home sizes vary from 1,400 square-foot three-bedrooms to 2,000 square-foot five-bedrooms on up to quarter-acre lots. Depending on size, prices typically range from $570,000 to $780,000. In the western end, four-to-five-bedroom custom-built homes from the 1990s to late 2010s offer picture windows, shaded front porches, three-car garages and fenced-in backyards. These average between 2,700 square feet and 4,400 square feet, which determines the price range of $820,000 to $1.3 million. Bauer says not every street here has sidewalks, but the neighborhood is generally walkable because there’s very little through traffic.
Swiss Manor also has four-to-five-bedroom custom-built homes with shaded front porches.
Many of Swiss Manor's homes were built between the 1970s and ‘90s.

Nearby interstates and Mountain Line Public Transit buses
Interstate 40 is about 2 miles southeast and Interstate 17 is roughly 8 miles southwest; Historic Route 66 sits 1 mile southeast. “It’s really not incredibly noisy here,” says Bauer. “In fact, locals say it’s pretty serene.” East Linda Vista Drive is the neighborhood’s main thoroughfare, leading roughly 4 miles southwest to Downtown Flagstaff. Cars are the main source of transportation here, though Mountain Line Public Transit bus stops are found about a mile south of the neighborhood; Amtrak trains depart from the Visitors Center station downtown. One bike route runs along Linda Vista Drive, and sections of the Flagstaff Loop Trail – part of the Flagstaff Urban Trails System – are near the neighborhood’s northern border. Flagstaff Medical Center sits about 3 miles southwest, while Flagstaff Pulliam Airport is roughly 11 miles southwest.
Near the Forces of Nature Trail
Hugging the neighborhood’s northern edge, the roughly 2-mile Forces of Nature Trail, part of the 56-mile Flagstaff Urban Trails System, is a relatively flat, dirt- and gravel-packed path weaving along the southern base of Mount Elden. About a mile south of the neighborhood is the 20-acre Bushmaster Park, featuring basketball and volleyball courts, a skate track, and a fenced-in, off-leash dog park.
Italian ingredients at New Jersey Pizza Company
Set about a mile southwest of the neighborhood, the New Jersey Pizza Company is known for its artisan-style pies with Italian sourced ingredients, offering up to 16-inch specials with a variety of toppings. Further south is family-owned Jitters Lunchbox, serving hand-crafted sandwiches and made-from-scratch soups. Downtown’s Old Town Shops – a strip of locally owned businesses – feature boutiques and jewelers. Grocery options like Safeway and Dollar Tree are roughly 2 miles west. Big-box stores like Walmart are found 2 miles south across Historic Route 66, and the Flagstaff Mall, 3 miles east, includes department stores such as Marshalls.
Swiss Manor locals can often be found at Satchmo's Cajun and Barbecue.

Art activities at Bushmaster Park
Every August, Bushmaster Park hosts the Annual Flagstaff Children’s Music and Arts Festival, with performances by the Flagstaff Youth Chorale, the Summit Gymnastics Academy and Music Together of Northern Arizona, a nonprofit that encourages early childhood exposure to music. Kids here can create art from recycled products, learn to draw, mold and paint sculptures and make their own musical instruments; a kiddie caboose, face painting and bounce houses are also available.
Neighborhood fire threat
Since Swiss Manor sits in a huge ponderosa pine forest, there’s a high risk of wildfire. The last major fire happened in 2022 just north of town. Flagstaff officials send fire restriction notices through social media and local news stations, alerting homeowners of prohibited outdoor activities, and encourage regularly removing pine needles, leaves and trash from their properties. Local builders offer fire-resistant housing materials, and smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes are outlawed within city limits; the nearest fire station is about 2 miles away.
