Some neighborhoods in Fletcher have a denser layout than others, and very few have sidewalks. Buyers will primarily find single-family homes here, ranging from new traditional builds to midcentury ranch-style properties, farmhouses and Capes. Most people get around by car in Fletcher, and U.S. Route 25 cuts right through town. Interstate 26 runs north to Asheville and southwest all the way to Charleston. “It takes about 15 minutes to get to Asheville, maybe 20 at most,” Moore says. Apple Country Public Transit buses also stop throughout the area on busier roads. Homes in Fletcher sit within 5 miles of the Asheville Regional Airport, which offers direct services to large U.S. cities via major commercial airlines. Residents can also access medical care within 5 miles at the AdventHealth Hendersonville hospital or Mission Hospital, about 11 miles north.
Smiley’s Flea Market and the Feed & Seed venue
Asheville is home to the hip River Arts District (RAD) and the iconic Biltmore Estate and Gardens. Downtown Asheville is also a hotspot for live music, art studios and a dynamic restaurant scene. Henderson County Public Schools scores a B-plus on Niche. Fletcher has its own elementary school, though students may have a 10-mile bus ride or commute to middle and high school. Relatively low crime rates and mountain weather
According to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, in 2023 Fletcher accounted for only 9% of the total crime index in Henderson County.
Fletcher experiences all four seasons. The mountain air keeps summers slightly cooler than other North Carolina regions, and the annual winter snowfall is 11 inches. The town is susceptible to flooding and continues to recover from Hurricane Helene damage in 2024. “Fortunately, Fletcher wasn’t hit too hard,” Moore says. “The Bill Moore Community Park was badly flooded, as well as our industrial park, but both are slowly coming back to business.”
