As the neighborhood's northern boundary, Palmetto Street allows residents to easily commute for work or retail. The café receives praise for its atmosphere, offering outdoor seating and a fireplace next to the window. A few blocks west is Red Bone Alley, an American eatery decorated like an old Charleston neighborhood, complete with street lamps, classic architecture and a brick road. Rivals A Store Divided is a local shop selling apparel for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and the Clemson Tigers, two major universities that many residents support. Pickleball and tennis at Timrod Park
The nearest park to Green Acres is Maple Park, an outdoor space with baseball fields, a colorful playground and picnic tables. Timrod Park has several tennis and pickleball courts fenced in between towering trees and a row of homes. The park includes trails throughout and open green space next to a playground. All three institutions receive a B-plus grade from Niche. Maranatha Christian School gets a C-plus from Niche and offers a private, Baptist school option.

Downtown Florence hosts several events and festivities throughout the year. Florence After 5 is an award-winning block party held on the final Friday of each month between May and September. The event includes a live band and several food and drink vendors. It was awarded "Best Local Attraction" and "Best Outdoor Event" by SCNow. The colder months are no exception. "A lot of downtown restaurants take their patio areas and bring out furnaces in the winter and do smores and things like that," Stroud says.
