Located about a mile west of Downtown Florence and a mile east of the commercial-centric areas of West Florence, Green Acres stands out for its location and more-affordable prices. As the neighborhood's northern boundary, Palmetto Street allows residents to easily commute for work or retail. Florence continues to grow, with the expansion of new industry and development, but maintains a small-town comradery. "You learn to speak to your neighbors more because it is someone you see more than once in your life," says Crystal White Stroud, a Realtor with My Real Estate Group, who was born and raised in Florence and has around 20 years of experience.
Florence downtown also offers good eating and is only a few minutes from Green Acres.

Green Acres contain lots of modest, ranch-style homes. Rows of towering trees form a backdrop to the houses and line the grassy median separating the roads. Timrod Park has several tennis and pickleball courts fenced in between towering trees and a row of homes. The park includes trails throughout and open green space next to a playground. Students in Green Acres may start their education at Royall Elementary School, which was voted the Best of the Pee Dee: Best Public School by SCNow Morning in the last two years. Moore Middle School and West Florence High School are known for their STEM courses, with West Florence offering an accelerated, project-based magnet program. All three institutions receive a B-plus grade from Niche. Maranatha Christian School gets a C-plus from Niche and offers a private, Baptist school option.
Award-winning block party
Downtown Florence hosts several events and festivities throughout the year. Florence After 5 is an award-winning block party held on the final Friday of each month between May and September. The event includes a live band and several food and drink vendors. It was awarded "Best Local Attraction" and "Best Outdoor Event" by SCNow. The colder months are no exception. "A lot of downtown restaurants take their patio areas and bring out furnaces in the winter and do smores and things like that," Stroud says.
Clemson and Gamecock merchandise can be purchased throughout the Green Acres neighborhood.

About 1 mile from Downtown Florence
Green Acres is about 1 mile from Downtown Florence. The neighborhood is walkable. However, given how spread out Florence is, most people use a car to get around. McLeod Regional Medical Center is the nearest medical center and one of the largest employers in the city, also located downtown. Travel 4 miles west on Palmetto Street to reach Florence Regional Airport.

Recreating an old neighborhood at Red Bone Alley
The neighborhood is about 1 mile from West Florence's commercial corridor, featuring several restaurants, chains and shops. F. E. Pop's at 5 Points is a coffee shop offering morning drinks and food, including lattes and bagels. The café receives praise for its atmosphere, offering outdoor seating and a fireplace next to the window. Lizard's Thicket Restaurant is a family-owned local chain known for Southern comfort favorites, with patrons giving high marks to the chicken-fried steak and mashed potatoes. A few blocks west is Red Bone Alley, an American eatery decorated like an old Charleston neighborhood, complete with street lamps, classic architecture and a brick road. Visitors review the food favorably, especially the shrimp and grits.
West Florence also offers several national chains and major retailers, like Ross and Target. Rivals A Store Divided is a local shop selling apparel for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and the Clemson Tigers, two major universities that many residents support. Harris Teeter and Food Lion are nearby for groceries.
