Large homes and highly-rated schools near Grapevine Lake

On any regular day, Emerald Bay residents can grab a kayak or fishing pole and head down to the lake. Pristine green lawns, well-maintained trees to match and large upscale homes a few blocks away from Grapevine Lake are among the many reasons the area is desirable. “It’s not your typical neighborhood,” Joe Unell, a realtor at JRU Properties with Gildenson Real Estate and has over five years of experience, says. “With big lots and great school districts, it has a lot to offer.”

Million-dollar homes that rarely hit the market

Emerald Bay’s windy streets don’t include sidewalks and are wide enough for vehicles to pass each other. Driveways range from a few feet to around a quarter of a football field, with some winding around to the front door. Towering homes built in the late 1900s and early 2000s feature stone and exposed brick exteriors on several thousand square feet. Prices range from around one-and-a-half million for a traditional architecture estate to over three million for a brick exterior estate with modern architectural features. “Homes there are very high end; one I sold had a putting green in the back yard,” Unell says. There are not a lot of homes in Emerald Bay, and they rarely hit the market. “I sold a house that was coming soon; it never even went to market, Unell says.

Kayaking and fishing on Grapevine Lake

Emerald Bay sits a couple of miles north of Grapevine Lake, an 8,000-acre reservoir surrounded by trails, boat docks and fishing spots. “You often see people kayaking on the lake,” Unell says. “Lots of great trails for hiking and biking just a few blocks away.” Twin Coves Park and Campground overlooks the lake, with picturesque views of the setting sun to the west and thick, green forests across the water. The towering pavilion over a section of picnic tables offers a shady place to have lunch before getting on the water or hitting one of the nearby trails. Mountain bikers go to the North Shore Trail and take the dirt and gravel trail around the lake and through the forest. Emerald Bay has no parks in the neighborhood; however, Green Acres Farm Memorial Park is two-and-a-half miles east. Monarch butterflies enter the Monarch Garden in the park, laying eggs on milkweed plants. Residents can connect with nature, enjoying the colorful flowers and vast green space with dog-friendly areas.

Flower Mound sits between the Metroplex’s two major cities, with downtown Fort Worth about 33 miles away and Dallas around 31 miles away. DFW International Airport is around 11 miles away, so there is sometimes noise from the air traffic; however, the town council and staff maintain a strong partnership with the DFW Airport staff and DFW noise team to mitigate it as much as possible. Prairie View Medical Plaza and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Emergency Room are a few miles away along Long Prairie Road.
