Pleasant Run

Modest single-family homes built between the 1960s and ‘90s
With the exception of condo units in Regency Square Court, which can go for prices in the mid-$100,000s, Pleasant Run consists primarily of single-family homes built between the early 1960s and the early ‘90s. Architecture is reflective of the era; there are split-levels, bi-levels and ranch-style houses with single-car garages on flat, winding streets. Lots typically are around a quarter of an acre, which means enough room for above-ground swimming pools and small gardens, and most homes are priced between $150,000 and $300,000. The last few years have also seen new construction along Houston Road, and brand-new single-family houses are typically priced in the high $200,000s. The neighborhood has a 3 out of 10 CAP Index Crime Score, which is below the national average of 4.Fishing, sledding and Disc Golf in local parks
“We’re known for our parks around here,” says Natalie Decker, who works with Coldwell Banker. Fisherman cast their lines out for catfish in Triple Creek Park, which also has several softball fields and a playground. For a peaceful walk, the Huntergreen Walking Path is another option that encircles a small pond. For those looking for more extensive hiking trails, they'll find them at the nearby Richardson Forest Preserve. “Because Fairfield parks are closer, many people go there, too,” adds Tracey-Noren. The sledding hill at William Harbin Park is active on snow days, and there’s also a disc golf course, a new playground and a splash pad in the works. About 3 miles away, Decker says she’s a regular at the Winton Woods Golf Course.Oktoberfest and Christkindlmarkt at the Germania Society of Cincinnati
Pleasant Run is also home to the Germania Society of Cincinnati, a social club that hosts various cultural events throughout the year. There are combat tournaments, a wide variety of German beers (or “biers”) and sausage booths at Oktoberfest in August, which Tracy-Noren says “Is the second-largest, besides the one held in downtown Cincinnati.” The November Christkindlmarkt has been a Pleasant Run tradition for generations, complete with Glühwein, carriage rides and St. Nicholaus. Other events include the Summer Biergarten Series and Fish Fry in February. Colerain Park also hosts a summer entertainment series. The calendar consists of free movie nights, concerts and Shakespeare performances on the outdoor stage.College Credit Plus and Junior Planning Day at Northwest High School
Students are incorporated into the Northwest Local School District, where they can attend Pleasant Run Elementary and Pleasant Run Middle, which Niche grades a C-plus and a C, respectively, before moving on to Northwest High School, which also earns a C-plus. In 2024, the Northwest Local School District voted to merge Colrain and Northwest, which will mean the construction of a brand new high school in the coming years. Students can earn college and high school credit at the same time through the College Credit Plus (CCP) Program, and 11th graders take part in Junior Planning Day every spring, attending career fairs, college fairs and college planning presentations.Shopping plazas and malls in Fairfield and Northgate
At The Dip, located along Pleasant Avenue on the way to Fairfield, soft-serve ice cream, BBQ pork and hot dogs are enjoyed at roadside picnic tables. Further up the street, there’s a Kroger in the Fairfield Center Mall and restaurants like Om India, which is popular for takeout. More retail options like Meijer and JCPenney can be found to the south in Stone Creek Towne Center Shopping Mall, and there’s also Northgate Square and Northgate Mall on either side of Colerain Avenue, which both contain dozens of national chain options.Proximity to Interstate 275
“What’s so great about Pleasant Run is that it’s near I-275, so you can just hop on the freeway and be on your way,” says Tracey-Noren. The 275 connects to Interstates 75 and 74, which in turn lead to Cincinnati, less than 25 miles away. Public transit options are limited in Pleasant Run, and most residents rely on their own cars to make the trip to Queen City. Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, from which planes fly nonstop to over 50 locations, is about 35 miles from the neighborhood across the Ohio River, and medical care is a 5-mile drive away at Mercy Health - Fairfield Hospital, ranked among the top 10 hospitals in the country.
