Natural areas and sports facilities near Foothills Green

The Red Fox Meadows Natural Area is a protected wildlife habitat with a mile of soft surface trail running through its open fields. The smaller Fischer Natural Area lies just south of West Stuart Street and is a common spot for sighting songbirds and foxes. Rolland Moore Park is the Fort Collins hub for sports enthusiasts, with facilities for baseball, pickleball, soccer, sand volleyball, basketball and tennis. Along with its courts and diamonds, the park is home to a handicap-accessible playground, horseshoe pits and shaded picnic pavilions. Running through the park, the paved Spring Creek Trail follows its namesake creek for 9 miles, connecting numerous city parks.

CSU Events

Colorado State University welcomes 33,000 graduate and undergraduate students to its campus each fall. “A lot of students who attend CSU end up finding jobs here and staying after graduation,” says Nicole Garner, a former CSU student and resident of Fort Collins. “The College brings life to the city with its concerts and events. Plus, a lot of our local restaurants and bars have special deals during the school year.” Throughout the year, the college hosts free events and attractions open to the community. The Lagoon Summer Concert Series is held on campus each Wednesday from June to July and is paired with local food vendors. The CSU Annual Flower Trial Gardens are home to hundreds of varieties of flora. Maintained by the university's Department of Horticulture, the gardens are used to study how different plant species fare in the city’s Front Range Environment.
