Fort Myers’ Palm Lee Park neighborhood is defined by its lower-cost single-family homes and its proximity to downtown. Streets have sidewalks with palm trees and live oaks and feature a park in the center in the center. Single story homes have front and back lawns, with the area reminiscent of “old Florida,” with most built between the 1960s and 1980s, says Kasey Thompson, a broker with Safe Harbor Realty Inc. “It’s probably one of the most affordable neighborhoods to buy into,” says Thompson.
There is a great playground with a corkscrew slide at Jefferson Park in Fort Myers.
The center avenue running through Palm Lee Park has grand picturesque royal palm trees running down the center median.

Ranch style homes and no HOA
Homes in Palm Lee Park range between $250,000 and $400,000. Craftsman, Florida cracker box and ranch-style homes are the predominant types in the area. Residential and commercial lots are also for sale. Thompson says that many buyers in the neighborhood are families and locals, but tourists buy second homes for vacation or rent. Thompson also says the area has no homeowner’s association.

Lee County Schools and programs at Fort Myers High School
Students start at nearby Orangewood Elementary, which has a B-minus grade on Niche, then on to B-graded Paul Lawrence Dunbar Middle School. Fort Myers High School has an A and offers several programs for students to pursue careers in law or finance.

Jefferson Park and historic Fort Myers Country Club
Jefferson Park is in the center of the neighborhood and has walking paths, a gazebo and a dog park. Just to the north is the Fort Myers Country Club. The public 18-hole golf course is one of the oldest in the state, hosting the likes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. The area is also 3 miles south of the downtown River District, which hosts concerts and events, including the annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party.
Moms looking to bring their kids to blow off steam can head over to Jefferson Park in the center of Palm Lee Park.

The bulk of the dining locations on Cleveland Avenue include a mix of chain and local restaurants. H.J. German Corner serves traditional German dishes such as bratwurst and strudel. The Edison Tavern, located at the Country Club, is open for breakfast on the weekends and can be rented out for special events. To the south is the Edison Mall, which has department stores such as Dillard’s and JC Penny, among other retailers. Publix is to the east of the mall along Colonial Boulevard. The closest hospital is Lee Memorial Hospital.

Local and intercity bus connections
LeeTran provides bus services along Cleveland Avenue and connects to downtown and the rest of Lee County. Greyhound and Flixbus provide intercity bus connections from the mall. The closest commercial airport is Southwest Florida International. Thompson says the area is close to the Caloosahatchee River, which can flood during storms. Lee County and FEMA do provide resources and assistance during severe weather events.
The Caloosahatchee River is just to the North of Palm Lee Park and has several sitting areas where you can look at the water.
The public transit system is readily available at several different places close by to Palm Park.
