Fort Meyers community with colorful housing and local amenities

Instantly recognizable for its colorful collection of housing, the quaint, close-knit community of Paseo offers an idyllic lifestyle filled with unique amenities and the fellowship of shared experience. “It’s the best place to live in Fort Myers, it really is,” says Tami Boersma, a Realtor with Blue Gulf Realty and resident of Paseo. “Welcome to paradise.” Surrounded by nature preserves, close to the Gulf of Mexico and convenient to Fort Meyers, the community provides residents with comfortable living and wide variety of offerings.

Resort-style amenities bring residents together in Paseo

Concentrated around Paseo’s 26,000-square-foot Village Center is an array of resort-style amenities that includes two pools and facilities for playing tennis, pickleball, basketball and bocce. There’s also a fitness center, fishing pier and spa. But that’s only the beginning. Residents have access to a movie theater, which shows matinees every Friday and Saturday, an ice cream parlor, a pub and a bistro. “The amenities are amazing, second to none,” says Fare. “They’re absolutely incredible. It’s like being on vacation every day.” While the Village Center hosts regular fitness classes and other events, including meetings of the poker club, Sunday brunches and holiday celebrations, the pool is the real center of community activity. “There’s a lot of camaraderie,” says Boersma. “The tiki, the pool, the people. Everyone who lives here, whether they rent or own, they always go to the tiki bar. It’s just a great vibe, a laidback vibe.”

Get into nature with nearby Cypress Slough Preserve

If Paseo residents decide to explore recreational opportunities outside the community, the adjacent Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve provides an interpretive center and offers guided walks along a boardwalk trail amid 3,500 acres of wetland ecosystem that showcases the native flora and fauna. Otters, alligators and wading birds are among the animals living there year-round. Another nearby attraction is Southern Fresh Farms, a non-profit educational facility that focuses on providing locally grown products through an on-site farmers market. The farm also features a petting zoo and is home to Crazy Dingo Brewing Co., which extends the farm-to-table ethos to a “farm-to-pint” experience with its locally brewed small-batch ales enjoyed in a rustic beer garden surrounded by livestock and rows of produce.

Colorful Mediterranean homes with a variety of price points

The community offers a variety of housing options, highlighted by Mission-style townhouses and condominiums. Hues of yellow, orange, red, green and brown cover the attached residences and create a vibrant village aesthetic accentuated by the southwest Florida landscape. Traditional single-family housing includes a collection of Mediterranean-influenced homes featuring decorative asymmetrical facades, terra cotta roofs and the craftsmanship of brick driveways. “When I show properties,” says Boersma, “people just fall in love with the architecture.” The variety of options is additionally attractive and provides a wide range of price points from which to choose. Townhouses and condos typically list between $350,000 and $450,000, with the largest 4-bedroom models listing for $600,000-plus. Single-family homes typically occupy a price range between $900,000 and $1 million-plus. There are also monthly HOA fees here in Paseo, ranging from $500 to $800. “You have a little bit of everything,” says Jim Fare, who also works for Blue Gulf Realty.

Lee County Public Schools serves families

Education begins at Pottorf Elementary, which has a B-minus grade on Niche. Students then attend Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle, which earned a B grade on Niche. High schoolers attend South Fort Myers High, which has a B grade on Niche and a B-plus for its college prep programming. The school offers several career and technical education academies for students, including subjects like TV production and agriscience.

Daily necessities and Fort Meyers amenities are minutes away

The nearest commercial center is the Publix-anchored Daniels Crossing, which, because of Paseo’s location next to the preserve, is about 8 miles away. Daniels Crossing also includes a Walgreens and several eateries, and a Whole Foods is located nearby. Gulf Coast Medical Center is also in this area. On Colonial Boulevard, The Forum shopping center has big box stores like Target and The Home Depot, plus smaller retailers and restaurants. Close to major roads, the community easily connects residents along Florida’s west coast, via I-75. To travel outside Florida, residents can head to Southwest Florida International Airport, less than 10 miles away. Between the houses, the amenities, the friendships and the nearby attractions, buyers will be hard-pressed to find a more desirable place to settle down than Paseo.
