Residents run errands close to home and dine downtown

Residents pick up groceries from Kroger on State Boulevard and shop big-box retailers like Target and Big Lots at Northwood Plaza on Stellhorn Road. Jefferson Pointe Center is 6 miles away and is one of the city’s two main shopping malls. Dining options in the community are relatively limited, but Downtown Fort Wayne, 5 miles away, offers a selection of independently owned spots for grabbing a bite to eat.

Nearby major roadways make getting around the city easy

Though somewhat rural, major roadways make Adams Township a well-connected community. “This is why I love Fort Wayne,” says Angela Zimmerman, a local Realtor with Wyatt Group Realty who has four years of experience in the area. “We are big enough to have a sports team and great restaurants, and you can still drive across the city in 20 minutes or less.” U.S. Route 27 and state Road 930 connect residents to downtown. Interstate 469 is also easily accessible, and Fort Wayne International Airport is an 11-mile trip away. However, many locals fly out of larger surrounding cities. “A lot of us will drive to Indianapolis or Detroit because the flights tend to be cheaper and there are more options,” Zimmerman says.
