Convenient location for commuters and daytime shoppers
In the late 19th century, wealthy industrialist John Bass built a summer house just beyond the city limits of Fort Wayne. The 300-acre parcel on which the home was constructed abutted a small creek, which lent the new home its name: Brookside. The creek was eventually dammed to create what is today known as Mirror Lake, and Bass's grand estate now houses the administrative offices of the University of Saint Francis. But the home’s name lives on in the form of several landmarks throughout Fort Wayne, including the Brookside Park neighborhood. Convenience is one of the primary draws to the area, which is tucked in near the intersection of St. Joe Center Road and St. Joe Road. The neighborhood is about 3 miles from Interstate 69 and 7 miles from downtown Fort Wayne. Multiple Fort Wayne Citilink bus stops make transportation easier for those without their own cars. “The location is great for families and commuters,” says Realtor Michelle Wyatt, who has more than two decades of experience in the area. “Everything you want in a neighborhood is close by.”
