Concord Hills
Suburban Neighborhood in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Allen County 46835
A range of Indiana homes
Because more than one builder developed it, the Concord Hill addition offers a range of housing styles. As Yoder says, "This is definitely not tract housing." As residents walk or bike the neighborhood, they are greeted by sidewalks set back from the street and deep, well-kept lawns intersected by wide driveways. Homes surrounded by thick tree canopies feature Cape Cod, ranch, colonial and Tudor-inspired architecture with stone, brick, wood or vinyl siding facades. The median home price is around $200,000, and most homes offer three bedrooms, two bathrooms and anywhere from 1,200 to 2,000 square feet. A larger home with recent renovations might list as high as $240,000. Condos in Concord Place offer two bedrooms with 1,000 to 1,200 square feet and contemporary architecture in muted earth tones. Condos usually sell right on either side of $200,000.Shoaff Park and the river
Northwest of Concord Hills, paddlers can launch boats into the St. Joseph River from the Mayhew Bridge Public Access site, then meander 4 miles down the river to the boat ramp at Shoaff Park. Shoaff Park is also where hikers enjoy more than 4 miles of trails, families make the most of the large playground and splash pad and golfers tee up at the par-54 golf course. Avid golfers can also be found at the Riverbend Golf Course just north of Shoaff Park. This public par-72 course features riverfront views and offers a restaurant with a full bar, burgers, hot dogs and daily specials.Nearby Fort Wayne Community Schools
Concord Hills is zoned for Fort Wayne Community Schools, starting with Shambaugh Elementary, a B-minus-rated school by Niche that is less than 1 mile away. Middle schoolers attend Jefferson Middle School, which earns a C-plus from Niche and offers athletic and academic clubs, Leo Club and Anime. Teens finish at B-rated Northrop High School, which has a former state-championship marching band, show choir and speech team. If families prefer private options, Our Lady School provides a Catholic-based education from kindergarten through eighth grade.Philharmonics and festivals
Yoder notes that many locals go downtown for the city's frequent festivals and activities. She says, "There are lots of high-end restaurants, shops and events along the riverfront, and a lot of people just like to walk around." But there's plenty to do close by, too, she notes, from year-round concerts at the Philharmonic Center to the family-friendly Johnny Appleseed Festival each fall.
Maplecrest Road
Maplecrest Road runs along Concord Hills’ eastern edge, providing convenient access to I-469 and I-69 and making it possible for residents to cover the 8 miles to Downtown Fort Wayne in about 20 minutes or easily visit neighboring cities like New Haven. For longer distances, Fort Wayne International Airport is 24 miles south, and the Waterloo Amtrak station is 23 miles north.
Convinience store and groceries
Locals find snacks and staples at the Lassus Handy Dandy convenience store, which hosts a Subway sandwich shop and gas station, but for more substantial shopping, they make their way to Meijer 5 miles to the north or to Kroger Marketplace and Target, which are 2 and 2.5 miles south, respectively. If no one feels like cooking, just down Maplecrest Road, Pizza King serves classic pizzas, pasta and subs, and Shigs in Pit BBQ & Brew offers barbecue that has won 11 Kansas City Barbecue Society Grand Championships.
