The neighborhood is made up predominantly of single-family homes, but a small number of multifamily, townhomes and apartments are mixed in. Floor plans in Shoaff Park span about 1,700 square feet on average. Houses in this area come with fairly sizable lots, that start at about one-fifth of an acre and reach three-tenths of an acre. “That area skews to be on the more mature side of homes, being 50-plus years old,” says Hartman, a lifelong Fort Wayne resident. “Which ultimately results in pretty good affordability. I think the price points in that area are pretty reasonable.” Homes in this neighborhood typically sell for prices between $200,000 and $300,000.Outdoor recreation a short jaunt away
Shoaff Park’s streets are lined with sidewalks, meaning those who live in the neighborhood are always just a stroll away from Shoaff Park itself. The park features the most amenities of any park in the city. Families can take their kids to the playground or the splash pad, golfers can hit the links, and anglers can launch a boat into the Saint Joseph River bass and catfish fishing. “That’s a very trafficked park,” Hartman says. “There’s a 2-mile loop around it. And it connects to the Rivergreenway trail, which takes you to the downtown area. It’s very well-established and utilized.” Hartman says Shoaff Park is popular for youth sports leagues as well, which utilize the baseball and softball diamonds and soccer fields here.A school system that allows locals to hit the lottery
Kids in Shoaff Park can attend schools in the Fort Wayne Community Schools system, which carries a B-minus overall grade on Niche. The district offers a lottery system that can open the door to any of the schools in the area, regardless of a resident’s address. But those who live in Shoaff Park are zoned for the C-plus-rated Northcrest Elementary, a school that offers the district’s English Language Learners program. Families across the district speak some 70 different languages. From Northcrest, students can move on to the C-rated Northwood Middle, whose course offerings include business and mass media. The B-minus-rated North Side High is next, a school with targeted programs for students interested in accounting, education, human and social services, business management, graphic imaging, TV production and radio, and computer science. Shoaff Park is also just about a mile from Purdue University Fort Wayne, with more than 200 academic programs and more than 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

The options include traditional chicken and waffles but also a waffle burger and a waffle breakfast sandwich. Corner Pocket Pub is another option in the plaza, a spot whose wings are well-liked.
