A slow-paced residential community south of Fort Wayne

In South Suburban, enjoy the comforts of suburban living while being close to city amenities. This south-side neighborhood is primarily residential, allowing for a slower pace of life. “There’s less traffic. It’s not as hustle-bustle as the northside,” says Randy Harvey, a Realtor at Coldwell Banker. He’s been selling in the area since 1980. There is a mix of new builds and older homes. Many new homes are on small lots in planned communities but can occasionally be found among older homes on larger grounds. The market here is very active, and according to Harvey, on average, homes only stay on the market for about 10 days. This is primarily attributed to attractive pricing. “Real Estate is a little bit less expensive there, so they get a little bit better buy for their dollar," Harvey says. For shopping and recreation, residents will need to visit nearby neighborhoods or head to downtown Fort Wayne, just 4.2 miles away.

South Suburban is made up of subdivision and established communities

Subdivisions are made up of newly built ranch-style and contemporary homes on small, manicured lots. More established neighborhoods are mostly comprised of older ranch-style homes, but some bungalow- and foursquare-style houses can be found here, too. Most homes have two- to four-bedroom homes and sell for between $120,000 and $185,000.
