Tamarack’s curb appeal
Most of the homes in Tamarack were built on modest grassy lots between the late 1950s and early 1970s, resulting in an abundance of minimalist ranch-style homes and L-shaped ramblers. Colonial Revival influences are common, with many homes featuring side-gabled roofs, second-story overhangs and symmetrical windows. Wide sidewalks border neat lawns and manicured gardens, adding a pop of color to the walkable streets. “Homes here have a good build quality with decent floor plans that are still desirable today, and it’s all very reasonably priced,” Price says, noting that buyers can expect to see listings for three-bedroom homes between $200,000 and $300,000. “Tamarack is definitely a neighborhood that will appreciate well in relation to other areas,” he says.

Stay active at Shoaff Park
Spanning more than 180 acres, Shoaff Park has been a community staple for outdoor recreation since 1955. This wooded park features a splash pad, playground, tennis courts and fields for baseball and soccer, as well as a paved walking trail that loops around an 18-hole golf course. About 3 miles southwest, Johnny Appleseed Park welcomes visitors year-round with its trails, campgrounds and St. Joseph River access. In September, the park also hosts the annual Johnny Appleseed Festival, a free, family-friendly outdoor event with games, a farmers market and historical demonstrations.

Snider High School gives Med students a head start
Students in Tamarack can attend Harris Elementary and Lane Middle, which both maintain grades of C or better on Niche. At Snider High, which maintains a grade of B on Niche, students interested in pursuing a medical career can enroll in the school’s Biomedical Sciences program. Students seeking higher education will also have plenty of options close to home, including the local campuses of Ivy Tech Community College, Purdue University and Indiana University.

Access to nearby highways without all the noise
Tamarack residents enjoy easy access to major highways without any of the accompanying noise and traffic. Interstates 69 and 469 are just a few miles away, so “it’s an easy commute to a lot of major employers around town,” Price says.Northwood Plaza is just minutes away
With Target, Big Lots and a host of fast-casual restaurants just over a mile away in Northwood Plaza and Kroger a few minutes up the street, residents of Tamarack don’t have to go far to satisfy their weekly shopping lists or grab a quick dinner. For even more retail therapy, residents can make the short, 3-mile trip over to Glenbrook Square, a shopping mall anchored by JCPenney.
