Candleridge Park connects neighbors with nature
Located in South Fort Worth, CandleRidge is a primarily residential neighborhood with direct access to nearby shopping, dining and schools. It's a community where people tend to put down roots, says local Realtor Davin Sanders with WilliamsTrew, adding that people rarely move away from the area. "It has that community vibe that a lot of people look for that's missing in a lot of places," Sanders says. "The neighbors actually greet one another. They take each other food. They walk around the neighborhood a lot. Neighborhoods like that don't really exist anymore, so I think that's the appeal." Most residents are able to walk to Candleridge Park, where they can sit on benches by French Lake or jog nearby on its multi-use trail system. Neighbors have grown fond of the waterfowl around the lake, as well as a goose named Sarge, with some providing the community with handmade feed, made of hen scratch and cracked corn.
Homes sit fairly close to one another, making Candleridge a tightly knit community.

Brick homes from the 1980s sit side-by-side in CandleRidge
With the exception of a few streets, like main throughways Sycamore School and Cleburne roads, there are no continuous sidewalks in CandleRidge. What the neighborhood does have are large trees that stretch out overhead, offering shade for homes, driveways and roads. Like many suburban developments, almost every property sits close together. Homes are generally ranch-style houses, mostly with brick exteriors and fenced-in backyards. Larger, multi-story residences can be found in the Meadows Add subdivision. These traditional brick homes were built in the 1980s and often feature built-in garages. For a three-bedroom home in CandleRidge, prices may range from $250,000 to $300,000. Homes with 2,000 square feet or more typically price upwards of $310,000 to $350,000.

Two large parks offer CandleRidge residents 5 miles of trail, playgrounds and skate parks
Some residences have views of the long swath of green space that traverses the neighborhood, appropriately named Candleridge Park. "I'm originally from that area, and it was my favorite place to go," Sanders says. "It's really just a fun, very nice walking space. There are workout places along the trail where you can stop and do circuit training." Built around a small pond known as French Lake, the park is a vast green space with plenty to explore. There's a playground and swing set for kids to enjoy and a 2.5-mile trail that connects other trails around the neighborhood, with access points on multiple local streets.
Farther south is Chisholm Trail Park, a large city park that highlights the prairie ecosystem of Fort Worth. The park has 2.5 miles of trails that wind through native landscapes, making for a scenic walk or jog. There's also a playground, two soccer fields and a skate park. The Chisholm Trail Community Center hosts after-school programs for kids and classes for adults, such as Tai Chi and self-defense.
