Far East Fort Worth is well-connected to the DFW Metroplex

There are houses of many sizes and price points in Far East Fort Worth. Built out in 2005, Far East Fort Worth is just 10 miles from Cowtown and has all kinds of residential properties that appeal to both homeowners and renters alike. “DFW is experiencing a big housing boom,” says Meagan Warminski, the Far East Fort Worth HOA president. “You can find any size home, from older apartments all the way up to brand new houses.” With local schools, recreational spaces and easy access to the highway, Far East Fort Worth is a small neighborhood of around 300 people tucked away in the DFW Metroplex.

Short-term and long-term housing options by Eastchase Parkway

Homes are primarily clustered on the northwestern end around Meadowbrook Drive and have gated entrances with landscaped lawns and lush trees. Traditional one-story homes with two-car garages range between $300,000 and $500,000, while two-story properties with vaulted ceilings will be higher around $500,000 and $900,000. Larger contemporary and split-level homes can be as large as 10,000 square feet with up to 20-acre lots and will be between $1-3 million. Despite its diverse housing stock, most residents of the neighborhood choose to rent rather than own, with apartments costing between $700 and $3,000 a month.

Public, private and preparatory education

Bill J. Elliott Elementary is situated 2 miles southwest of the neighborhood in Hollow Hills and earns a C on Niche. Jean McClung Middle School and Eastern Hills High School is further 5 miles west by Interstate 820 and also have C ratings. Instead of public education, many families in the neighborhood will choose to send their children to one of the nearby private schools, with Pantego Christian Academy and The Oakridge School having A and A-plus ratings. St. Ignatius College Preparatory School also sits on the west end in Hollow Hills and offers accelerated programs for ninth through 12th grades. Arlington Baptist University sits to the south side and doubles as the headquarters of the World Baptist Fellowship.

Easy travel by Interstate 30

Far East Fort Worth is directly south of Interstate 30, making it easy for residents to travel 15 miles west to the Stockyards or 6 miles east into Arlington. “It’s 20 minutes to anywhere from here because we’re right off of the highway,” Warminski says. “We can go to either side of Fort Worth all the way to Dallas. Either direction is the same amount of time for us.” Trinity Metro bus stops take passengers 8 miles into West Meadowbrook, where the Dr. Dennis Dunkins Transfer Center provides extra connections through the Boca Raton, Miller and East Lancaster routes. The Exceptional Emergency Center is directly across the highway and is open for 24 hours, while the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is over 15 miles northeast.

A local golf course with green spaces and a museum

The neighborhood is anchored by the Village Creek Natural Area to the south and the Bob Findlay Linear Park to the east, with local hiking and biking trails and fishing creeks. However, Warminski says most residents generally avoid this area due to a growing homeless population. Instead, many golfers in the neighborhood will hit their tees across the highway at the 7,000-yard Waterchase Golf Course. The National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum is located by Eastchase Parkway and has several journals, photographs and artifacts from the American West.

Big brands by the highway

Most shops and restaurants are going to be based north around the highway. Local brands include Marshall's, Ross and Famous Footwear, while the closest grocery stores at Walmart, Target and Aldi. Local dining largely consists of fast food and chain restaurants, and the East Chase Market is anchored by an AMC movie theater.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
