Its own little city
Described as a “nice pocket of communities,” the Northbrook neighborhood is a sought-after area that attracts those who want to be close to Fort Worth and Dallas but desire to live away from the hustle and bustle environment. According to broker Ludwin Flores of Keller Williams, one of the big advantages of Northbrook is the access to amenities. “The shopping is plentiful,” he says. “It’s like its own little city. There’s been an expansion of growth.” One limitation of the community is the lack of public transportation. The area does have several bike trails and walking trails for those who like to get in an evening walk or take a stroll with family.

Lots of brick homes
Northbrook is split into several subdivisions run by Homeowners Associations, like Fossil Creek or Alexandra Meadows, which offer similar home styles and prices. Flores says the HOAs can cost as much as $800 a year. The HOAs organize many of the community events like Easter egg hunts and Halloween activities. Most properties were built at the turn of the 21st Century, while older residences were built in the late 1970s. Many homes in Northbrook share features like cross-gable roofs, arched windows and brick exteriors. Homebuyers can invest in two- or three-bedroom homes for a price tag between $239,000 to $386,000. “A lot of homes are built on smaller lots, so backyards are not very large. But they do have community space and people like to walk their dogs or ride bikes,” says Corey Bearden, a Realtor with League Real Estate and a north Texas local. There are also a handful of homes built in the 2000s that favor a traditional

Respected schools
The highly rated Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District draws in multiple generations of Northbrook families. “A lot of people move there for schools,” Bearden says. “There are a lot of families, and some folks I’ve helped up there are grandparents who want to move closer to grandkids.” Students can start out at Chisholm Ridge, Gililland and Northbrook elementary schools, which all score a B on Niche, before moving to B-plus-rated Ed Wilkie or Prairie Vista middle schools. Then, it’s on to top-notch high schools such as Chisholm Trail High School and Saginaw High School, garnering an A-minus and A on Niche, respectively. The local high schools are both known for their dance teams. The Chisholm Trail Charmers and the Saginaw Starsteppers perform at school sports games and community events and competitions throughout the year.
