River Trails
Living up to its name
Outdoor enthusiasts will love the opportunities available to explore in River Trails. With four lakes exclusive to the community, residents can drop fish for bass and perch, bike or jog along the trails around them. The neighborhood is also home to River Trails Park, which offers a playground, a fishing pond and a heavily wooded trail that runs roughly parallel to the West Fork of the Trinity River. The 103-acre Mallard Cove Park is just over the southern edge of River Trails and offers more paved trails, river access and expansive green space for a picnic or a pickup soccer game. Beyond its community trails, River Trails residents will love the neighborhood’s proximity to the area’s Trinity Trails System, offering over 100 miles of hiking and biking trails throughout Fort Worth. Hikers and cyclists can hop on the trailhead at Quanah Parker Park, about 2 miles west, to reach the rest of the trail network.SPacious homes with lake views
The neighborhood offers a variety of housing, from brick, ranch-style homes to custom, spacious, modern homes on the lake. “You have homes from the late ‘80s and early ‘90s all the way to new construction still going on,” Koren says. “It’s pretty well built up, but everyone seems to like their neighbors, and you’re surrounded by a melting pot of residents.” Most homes range from $320,000 to $700,000, and newcomers can expect 1,300-square-foot three-bedroom homes at the lower price point and 3,400-square-foot five-bedroom homes on the lake at the highest price point. Most homes have multi-car garages, and residents can easily walk to the trails, lakes, neighborhood park and the elementary school. The Lakes of River Trails is a newer subdivision with a collection of contemporary-style homes built by David Weekley Homes. Properties start at $670,000 and range from 1,800-square-foot three-bedroom homes to 3,600-square-foot five-bedroom homes with multi-car garages and well-manicured lawns. These homes come with homeowners’ association fees that average around $400 a year.Top-notch school district
River Trails is part of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District, a highly sought-after school system rated A-plus by Niche. Local students can attend River Trails Elementary, Hurst Junior High and L.D. Bell High School. The elementary and middle schools earned an A on Niche, and the high school holds an A-minus. River Trails Elementary offers a weekly STEM & Swim education event and summer theater camps. Bell High offers track and volleyball teams and an improv club.Central to shopping and dining
Dining options are concentrated along Trinity Boulevard, which runs along the neighborhood’s northern edge, and West Pipeline Road off Route 183, just north of River Trails. Tom’s Asian Bistro is a favorite for Singapore noodles and orange chicken. Taqueria Burritos Locos is another popular locally owned restaurant. A no-frills spot, it’s known for its $2 tamales, chorizo tortas and carne asada tacos. Essentials are just a quick drive west along Interstate 820 in the Woodcreek Village shopping center. Anchored by Albertson’s, the center also offers Home Depot, Family Dollar, other retailers and fast-casual spots like Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Store. For a night out, residents can enjoy authentic Cajun fare and frozen cocktails at Southern Classic Daiquiri Factory and catch a musical or other live performance at Artisan Center Theater, only 3 miles away. Residents can head just 3 miles north to the North East Mall for a more extensive selection of stores.A tight-knit community
The neighborhood homeowners’ association is split into four different boards, each putting on its own events for the subdivisions within River Trails. Popular community activities include Easter bunny visits, trunk-or-treats, a fishing derby and neighborhood block parties in the spring and fall.Close to downtown Fort Worth, Dallas and the airport
Texas State Highway 121 and Interstate 820 converge in the neighborhood’s northwest corner. The highway connects directly to downtown Fort Worth, 8 miles away; I-820 connects to Interstate 30, about 2 miles south of the neighborhood and provides convenient travel into downtown Dallas, 25 miles away, and the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, a 12-mile drive. In addition, the Richland Hills commuter train station is located blocks away from the Highway 121 and I-820 interchange.
