Mosey on over to Mosier Valley
Among the oldest historically Black communities of Tarrant County, Mosier Valley was initially a freedmen's town after the Civil War in 1870. "A lot has changed; there used to be natural grapes, strawberries and fruit trees from when it was a farming community. In the 80s, we were urban farming and didn't even know it," says Dani Tucker, whose family has owned Earth Haulers, a local landscaping company in the neighborhood, for over 40 years. Situated between Euless and Hurst and just 14 miles from Fort Worth, the area has faced infrastructural challenges for decades, and neighbors are advocating for change. Manufacturing sites and several subdivisions fill its streetscapes, offering proximity to highly rated schools, shopping and family-friendly recreation.

Day trip to Six Flags
Residents can tee it up at the public Texas Star Golf Course on Texas Star Parkway, which has many baseball fields where local little league play ball and an ice-skating rink. Near the Stonewood and Stone Creek subdivisions, a few pocket parks include small playscapes close to home. Additionally, Mosier Valley is 5 miles from 5 miles from the forested trails at River Legacy Parks and the beach at Lake Viridian. Additionally, Six Flags Over Texas is only 8 miles south for locals looking to have fun on weekends. Along with two Buddhist temples, churches are central to this historic community. "You have your church families living here. You see one half of the family going to Saint John Missionary Baptist Church and the other side to Cathedral of Faith, which are two different denominations."

Breakfast with the family at Classic BJ's Cafe
On West Euless Boulevard, restaurants, offices and restaurants line the streets. However, locals will have to take a drive for groceries. Down this road, Classic BJ's Cafe serves hearty pancakes, burritos, and fried fish for a home-style meal. Fuzzy's Taco Shop is a regional favorite spot for Baja-style bites in its retro dining room. Local bars with games include Water Hole Bar & Billiards and Office on Trinity, which, despite its name, is where locals unwind after work. Nadine Halal Market is on Industrial Boulevard, and Kroger is on East Pipeline Road, inside the Village Square shopping center. The Shops at North East Mall is 7 miles west for dozens of retailers.

Ranch-style houses and new construction
Coming a long way from tracts of farmland, Mosier Valley offers townhomes, apartments, mobile trailers, and planned subdivisions built in the last decade. Each section differs vastly, with some areas providing sidewalks and driveways and others with none and a prevalence of street parking. Though few of its original houses still stand, new developments have been heavy in recent years, reflecting New Traditional brick homes. Stonewood and Stone Creek Addition are two big subdivisions filled with trees that surround ranch-style houses with modest-sized fronts and backyards. Prices range from $200,000 for a three-bedroom in the neighborhood's western portion to $500,000 for a four-bedroom on its eastern side. Residents should note that the area is prone to flooding.

Close to airports and highways
Locals are convenient to Texas 360, Texas 183 and State Highway 121, getting residents to Fort Worth in under 30 minutes. Mosier Valley has no public transit; however, Bell Station on Bell Flight Boulevard bridges the community to Dallas. It is also 8 miles from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and home to Bell Health & Wellness Center on East Hurst Boulevard. Additionally, railroad tracks, a water treatment plant and a landfill cause heavy truck traffic in the area.
