Winding roads and quiet streets offer a family-friendly environment where locals are just a hop, skip and jump from lakeside recreation, meandering hiking trails and nearby schools.
Spend the afternoon at Westcreek Park
With several parks to choose from for some outdoor time, Patricia LeBlanc Park floats to the top of the list. It gained national recognition in the 1990s as the first universal playground in the country, allowing kids of all abilities to play side-by-side. At 17-acre Westcreek Park on Jennie Drive, locals enjoy the basketball and tennis courts, soccer field and playground. The park connects to the nearby Woodmont Linear Park, a trail that takes residents past public art installations offering messages of encouragement. Benbrook Lake can be accessed on Rocky Creek Park Road, 10 miles west for bass fishing or swimming.

Wedgwood residents have easy access to well-traveled shopping destinations like Hulen Mall, one of the largest malls in Fort Worth. In addition to anchor stores Macy’s and Dillard’s, the mall offers sporting goods, jewelry and familiar clothing brands. The mall has spurred further development in the immediate area, including entertainment options like the Movie Tavern theater. There is also an AMC theater a little further down Hulen Street. Residents can choose from several popular dining options in this area as well. Most homes in Wedgwood are ranch-styles from the 1950s and 1970s. The midcentury modern architecture of the neighborhood is evident in the low homes with large front windows that let in plenty of light. Residences are set on wide streets with mature trees providing shade over the front yards. In some parts of the neighborhood, larger traditional brick homes offer built-in garages from the 1990s. Apartments are also common in areas near the highways. Home prices in Wedgwood are about in line with or more affordable than the other Fort Worth neighborhoods. Homebuyers can expect to pay around $250,000 for a three-bedroom with 1,800 square feet to $400,000 for newer houses spanning 2,300 square feet.

Public school students in Wedgwood will be part of the Fort Worth Independent School District. Schools include JT Stevens Elementary School, Wedgwood 6th Grade Center, and Wedgwood Middle School all graded with a C, according to Niche Southwest High School has served the community since 1968 and receives a B- minus from Niche. Students can prepare for college with OnRamps dual enrollment courses with the University of Texas at Austin. Available courses include computer science, engineering and physics.
