Woodhaven

From midcentury ranch homes to ornate Victorian Revivals
Homes in Woodhaven come in a wide variety of styles, with classic brick exteriors common throughout. Many detached homes are contemporary or ranch-style houses, with some exceptions. "It's a pretty hilly neighborhood, so you're going to find more multi-story homes here than in plenty of other areas of the city. That can be a pro or con, depending on what the buyer is looking for," O'Dell says. Other styles include Victorian homes with turret windows and ornate railings on the porches, while new traditional properties bring a contemporary flare and often feature additional luxury amenities, such as in-ground pools. The neighborhood's southern end features many apartment complexes, condos and townhouses, and most Woodhaven residents rent rather than buy. Condo units typically sell between $100,000 to $125,000, smaller midcentury homes sell around $400,000, and larger new builds sit between $550,000 and $750,000. Potential homebuyers should be aware that Woodhaven has a CAP Index Crime Score of 8, with the national average being 4. In 2022, the Fort Worth Safe initiative began, and the city has seen at least a 10 percent drop in violent crime each year. The imitative included more security footage in neighborhoods, improving community-police relations and gun surveillance.
Errand ease right off Bridge Street
There's a large shopping center right off Bridge Street, with residents stopping into Albertsons for groceries, popping into Family Dollar for quick necessities and banking at one of several locations. While there's a noticeable presence of chain retailers and restaurants, locally owned businesses, from barbershops to salons, manage to pepper their way in. The family-owned restaurant Italy Pasta and Pizza has served the neighborhood since 1990, offering authentic Italian dishes with recipes passed down through the generations.
Heading to downtown Fort Worth for annual entertainment
With Woodhaven's proximity to downtown Fort Worth, residents easily pop over for any of the city's events. Significant annual events include the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival and the summer Rockin' the River live concert series. "Woodhaven is in a position where there's plenty to do for residents with all different hobbies. It's close to Six Flags, the ballpark where the Rangers play," O'Dell says. "You never feel like you can't just pop over into something fun."
On the path to Birdville High
Public schools are served by the Birdville Independent School District, and children can start their education at Birdville Elementary, which has a B-minus on Niche. Students can move on to Richland Middle, which receives an A-minus, before finishing basic education at Birdville High. With an overall A, Birdville High is ranked as the best public high school in the district. The Birdville ISD Fine Arts-Athletics Complex serves as an event space for sports games and the school's expansive arts programs, and the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills scores are higher than the district and state's average.
Walking the Trinity Trails
Found on Randol Mill Road, Quanah Parker Park sits at the bend of the West Trinity River; its open fields and paved pathways, part of the Trinity Trails System, give residents an excellent opportunity to get out and about. Just a couple of miles east of Woodhaven, Mallard Cove Park offers a large playground, walking trails, fishing spots and a welcome invitation for dogs.Navigating the Fort Worth area
"With the 820 Loop and Interstate 30 right next to the neighborhood, it's super easy to head into Downtown Fort Worth, all the way into Dallas or north to the Southlake and Grapevine areas," O'Dell says. There are several bus stops along Boca Raton Boulevard and Oakland Hills Drive, run by Trinity Metro. Downtown is 7 miles away, typically less than a 15-minute drive, and 18 miles from the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
