How to get around the Triangle
Franklinton is a car-dependent community, with U.S. Route 1 running through the area and state Route 56 serving as the main east-west road. Wake Forest is about 10 miles away, or a 15-minute drive. Raleigh is 27 miles away, and Durham is 30 miles away, drives that take less than an hour. The Raleigh-Durham International Airport is a 33-mile trip.
Which Franklin County schools serve the area
Franklinton is served by two public school districts, Franklin County Schools and Granville County Schools, with assignments depending on a student's home address. Kids can start at Franklinton Elementary School, then go to Franklinton Middle School. Older students can go to Franklinton High School or apply to Franklin County Early College High School, which gets an A rating from Niche and offers a five-year program where students can earn a high school diploma and an associate degree.

A walkable downtown with locally owned shops and restaurants
Franklinton has a walkable downtown area with locally owned businesses. “The town has a lot of nice restaurants,” the Dyers say. “People come all the way from Wake Forest to eat in Franklinton.” You can get street-style tacos at Toros Tacos + Tequila and an upscale dinner at Franko’s Italian Steakhouse. There are boutiques and other shops mixed in, including Archer + Pratt, a gift and home décor shop, and The Stables Marketplace, which has local vendors selling handmade goods and clothing. On Saturday mornings, you can stock up on locally grown produce at The Franklinton Market. For groceries, the Franklinton Square shopping center has Food Lion and Family Dollar, and there are more options in Wake Forest.

Franklinton Park anchors outdoor recreation
You can get outside at Franklinton Park, a roughly 20-acre space with a modern playground, a basketball court and ball fields. The park also has an Innovation STEM trail with interactive elements to help teach kids about different careers. Texaco Station Park is a small green space in a converted service station downtown. The public Olde Liberty Golf Club has an 18-hole course, a driving range and a putting green.
