Surrounded on both sides by the dense forests of rural Maryland, Wolfsville offers seclusion for miles on end.

Four different roads branch outwardly from Wolfsville proper like a minimalistic web. Wolfsville Road runs north to south in a winding pattern, along which you’ll see the occasional rancher. These houses are modest in appearance, many built from the 1950s to 1990s. The no-frills architecture of these ranchers reserves all excitement for the views of the mountainous panorama and blue skies they provide. Prices range from $175,000 to $560,000, with the occasional custom build or estate fetching closer to $1 million. As you head farther south, houses become more unique. You can find anything from a log cabin to a two-tone brick Colonial Revival.

Kids in Wolfsville, as you’d expect, attend Wolfsville Elementary, rated A-minus by Niche. Moving on to Middletown Middle, rated B-plus, kids can benefit from practical arts classes that educate them on technology and essential life skills. When they graduate to Middletown High, kids may challenge themselves with AP courses. The AP enrollment at this school is 38%, and Niche rates Middletown High an A-minus overall.

If you have something to celebrate and desire an ample outdoor space to host, consider the Wolfsville Ruritan Community Park. The park has multiple pavilions and plenty of parking if you need to reserve the room for a large group. To prepare for a family reunion, wedding or whatever else, the onsite kitchen is commercial size to accommodate large-scale food preparations. While the adults socialize, kids can run around on the park’s playground. If you prefer to get active outdoors, drive just two miles southwest of town and hit the Appalachian Trail at South Mountain State Park. This gorgeous, wooded area has spots of elevation where you can view the countryside from a jagged rock outcropping. Explore the rock face with a guided climbing program for a more vertical journey.

A long day outdoors can work up quite the appetite. Travel about 13 miles west towards Hagerstown and grab a plate at the Hummus Mediterranean Grill. Enjoy classics like shawarma and falafel after exploring the woods around Wolfsville. Mexican cuisine is also an option, with El Ranchero located on National Pike. Quesadillas, Enchiladas and Tacos are all fair game and pair well with one of their margarita variations.

Cooking dinner at home means stocking up on groceries. Martin’s outside Hagerstown has a wide selection of meats and produce to cover your basics for the week. If you need more variety or perhaps want to explore some oddities, check out the Myersville Farmers’ Market. Keep your eyes peeled for local food trucks parked outside the shopping area. For a calm afternoon with the sun on your face, head to the Six Wicket Vineyards. They offer wine tastings and tours of the grounds. Relax with snacks on their porch and appreciate the view of the mountainous landscape.

With the views to impress and seclusion sure to comfort, Wolfsville is a great neighborhood to call home.
