Centerville District
Spanish-influenced dwellings in various styles
Amongst its many apartment communities and businesses, Centerville District includes blocks of ranch-style homes, many built in the 1970s and 1980s to meet the demand created by the area’s big employers. Newer one- and two-story modern Craftsman homes with large front porches hug up to wide sidewalks. Large Monterey-style homes with adobe walls line Peralta Boulevard, many with balconies overlooking the wide avenue. Homes are on the market for an average of 21 days, and the average sales price over one year was $993,000. Small single-family homes start at $820,000 and range up to $2 million for a large new two-story home. Older townhomes range from $630,000 for a small unit to $1 million for a more spacious two-bedroom unit. Newer townhomes run from $1 million to $1.65 million for a model with the latest features. Condos range from $322,000 to $650,000.Regional recreation and green space close to home
Mission Peak lies to the east of Fremont. The 3-mile hike to the summit takes about five hours roundtrip. “It’s a really popular hiking trail,” says Omar Murillo, a Bay area native and top-producing Realtor. "People get up really early to take that climb and take their picture with a great view of all of East Bay and the Peninsula.” Mission Peak draws so many people from the region that parking becomes a daily issue. In contrast to the barren peak, the city below has been designated a Tree City by the Arbor Day Foundation for 27 years. In Centerville Community Park, live oaks and tall pines shade pathways, playgrounds and tennis courts in the 20 acres surrounding the community center. That center makes space for celebrations like quinceañeras, and Diwali, a Hindu festival of lights. Dusterberry Park is another recreation spot, featuring brightly colored playground structures, murals, and basketball courts set on the location of an abandoned car dealership.Diversity in eateries, stores and movies
Centerville District eateries are varied and plentiful. Kebabs and Korma are cooked up along a strip of Fremont Boulevard called “Little Kabul” for its Afghan influences. El Patio is a favorite for authentic Mexican. Biryani Adda serves up South Indian dishes and Rice Junky offers Korean Fusion. A Whole Foods Market anchors a shopping center that includes See’s Candies, offering chocolates and other goodies, and Boudin SF Bakery, serving sour dough sandwiches and bread bowls. The nearby Gateway Plaza features more restaurants, including a Panera and La Pinata, and a Cine Lounge movie theatre featuring films out of Hollywood and Bollywood.Top-rated schools
Kids can begin at Oliveira Elementary School, continue at Centerville Middle School, and finish at Washington High School. All have A ratings on Niche. Washington is the oldest public high school in Fremont and is home of the Tak Fudenna Memorial Stadium, which hosts the sports teams for all of Fremont’s high schools.Major corridors serve Centerville District
Interstate Highway 880 borders the neighborhood, with San Jose 18 miles to the south and Oakland 25 miles north. State Route 84 borders the western edge of the neighborhood and heads across the Dumbarton Bridge to Palo Alto. Public transit is easily accessible with a BART station and bus stops along Fremont Boulevard and Thorton Avenue. The Alamont Corridor Express commuter train stops at the Centerville Depot. San Jose Mineta International Airport sits about 19 miles to the south, and San Francisco International Airport is 30 miles northwest. Kaiser Hospital is just to the east.
