Marinelli, who has lived in and sold real estate in Fremont since 1988, said that while the homes may be smaller and older, their relative affordability in proximity to other areas near Silicon Valley makes them desirable. “It’s a place where working people can get a foothold on something they can afford,” Marinelli says.
Spend an afternoon running errands at Fremont Hub Shopping Center. Start your trip to the retail mecca by trying on the latest trends at Marshalls and spoiling your furry friend with new treats and toys from PetSmart. Refuel on a soft pretzel at Jack’s Brewing Company before heading to Trader Joe’s for your weekly groceries. Finish your day with a hot plate of chicken parmigiana from Massimo’s, less than 2 miles southwest of the shopping center. Massimo’s is one of only a few family-owned and operated restaurants in the area, making it a neighborhood staple.
Neighborhood kids may attend schools in the Fremont Unified School District. They can begin their education at Brier Elementary School before moving up to G.M. Walters Middle School, both of which received an A-minus on Niche. At the middle school, sixth-grade students can participate in the Where Everybody Belongs mentorship program, which helps them transition into middle school by pairing them up with an eighth-grade mentor. Interstate 880 flanks the neighborhood, making Sundale a viable option for those commuting to Silicon Valley. Easily travel across the San Francisco Bay by hopping on California State Route 84 or travel further inland by taking Interstate 680, just on the outskirts of town. Public transit is also easily available with the Bay Area Rapid Transit public train system serving the city of Fremont. If you’re leaving the country, the San Jose Mineta International Airport is conveniently located just 17 miles south.
