Fremont Hills is a bedroom and golf community
Fremont Hills is a small bedroom community nestled between the much larger cities of Nixa and Ozark. Fremont Hills mainly consists of suburban homes, including some upscale ones that hit the $1 million mark. This city of just over 1,000 people also has the Fremont Hills Country Club, and it’s not uncommon to see golf carts parked across the area. “It’s a golf course community. That’s probably one of the biggest draws,” says Kari Wyrsch, the director of sales with Graddy Real Estate. “It’s got a really great country club feel with a great pool and clubhouse area.” Additionally, the proximity to Nixa and Ozark means many here don’t travel far for their needs. “We have a lot of nice restaurants within a two- or three-minute drive. Everything is within five minutes,” says Natalia Moskalenko, a Realtor with Old World Realty.
Buyers can find high-end homes with well-cared yards
The community has mature trees, quiet streets with no sidewalks and a few cul-de-sacs. Fremont Hills has many brick and stone New Traditional homes with multi-car garages. There are also some ranch-style, Craftsman and Mediterranean homes. “Everybody’s yards are always very well manicured,” Wyrsch says. “They are nice, beautiful homes, and they’re high-end homes.” Several homes under 3,000 square feet sell from $390,000 to $450,000. However, most homes here have larger footprints and mainly run between $480,000 and $740,000. A few homes with about 5,000 square feet or more go from $800,000 to $1.5 million. Fremont Hills also has an overall CAP Index Score of 2 out of 10, below the national average of 4.
The golf club and McCauley’s Park offer several activities
The private Fremont Hills Country Club has an 18-hole course lined by patches of mature trees. The club offers leagues, including one for couples and another for women. The club also has several pickleball courts and a small aquatic facility with a heated swimming pool and a splash pad. A few miles west of Fremont Hills, Nixa’s McCauley Park offers a disc golf course and another aquatic center. The park is also home to the roughly 30,000-square-foot Nixa Community Center, where the amenities include basketball and volleyball courts and an elevated walking track.
Residents may get craft beers and down-home cooking
Fremont Hills has one of 4 By 4 Brewing Company’s two locations. The taproom is in a modern industrial building covered with a few images of wheat, a hop, a drop of water and a brewing tank. The brewery also has a small outdoor stage and a beer garden with some open space used for cornhole games. “Every day and every night, they have food trucks that come with different cuisines,” Moskalenko says. Neighboring Ozark has more dining options, including institutions like Lambert’s Cafe. Lambert’s is known for its rolls, down-home cooking and gift shop carrying items like homemade jams. Ozark has Discount Freight & Grocery, but nearby Nixa has more chains like ALDI and Walmart.
The Ozark School District covers Fremont Hills
Ozark School District serves the city and receives an A-minus from Niche. Fremont Hills is zoned for West Elementary, which gets an A grade. Students may then go to Ozark middle and junior high schools. Ozark Middle receives an A-minus, while Ozark Junior High gets an A. Students may finish at Ozark High, which earns a B-plus. The high school’s athletic successes include its girls volleyball team reaching the state finals in 2024. The area can also receive tornadoes, and both Ozark Middle and Ozark High received new storm shelters in 2024. Nixa Public Schools covers the area just west of the city and gets an A.
Events include a community garage sale and holiday lights tour
The Citywide Garage Sale is one of Fremont Hills’ two major community events. On the last weekend in April, homeowners across the city open their driveways and yards to visitors looking for bargains on secondhand goods. In early December, many may see Christmas yard displays and decorated homes during the annual Tour of Lights, which also includes a parade of decorated golf carts.
Highways give commuters routes to Springfield
Fremont Hills is between U.S. highways 160 and 65, both of which go north to Springfield. Downtown Springfield is over 10 miles north of Fremont Hills. Many in Fremont Hills go to Springfield for medical care and air travel. Fremont Hills is less than 5 miles south of Mercy Orthopedic Hospital Springfield. About 10 miles north, CoxHealth Medical Center South offers a wider range of services. Fremont Hills is also more than 20 miles southeast of Springfield-Branson National Airport.
