Its many amenities and home options make Tamarron stand out

Tamarron is a D.R. Horton planned community around 35 miles west of Houston established in 2014 and continues to grow. When completed, the neighborhood will feature 4,000 homes. However, Tamarron is an active and bustling community. Ziad Al Kayali, a Realtor with Keller Williams Premier Realty Katy who has sold dozens of homes in Tamarron says his out-of-state clients tend to choose the neighborhood for the A-rated schools, while those coming from Houston are often drawn to the amenities. “Beautiful natural surroundings, lots of housing options, the parks, the walking trails, the playgrounds,” he says. The neighborhood also offers a sprawling clubhouse, waterfront properties along man-made lakes and proximity to plenty of shopping and dining.

Homes are a mix of New Traditional styles, sidewalks are plentiful

New construction is everywhere in Tamarron, with New Traditional style houses in many stages of development. They come in a range of floorplans, often with brick and stone facades, and sit close together on landscaped lawns that feature driveways and two-car garages. The streets are lined with sidewalks and dotted with young trees. Cul-de-sacs are plentiful. Prices typically range from $265,000 to around $600,000 throughout the community. The gated Dalton subdivision has larger properties, called “Emerald” homes, with amenities like backyard pools, large patios and lake views. Prices here can climb to $850,000. Just south of Dalton is Wellspring, a gated 55-plus subdivision. HOA fees vary across each subdivision and cover exterior maintenance and landscaping. While there are apartment complexes and rental homes in the neighborhood, about 91% of residents are owners. Regarding crime, Tamarron scores a CAP Index Crime Score of 1, three points lower than the national average.

Kids can attend Lamar CISD schools, including Fulshear High

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District serves the community, has an A-minus on Niche and offers limited school choice through in-district and out-of-district transfers, approved under board policy and subject to space availability. There are no magnet programs or lottery-based admissions. Families must apply and meet residency or employment criteria for transfers. Kids can attend the new Haygood Elementary until fifth grade, Roberts Middle for sixth grade, A-minus-rated Leaman Junior High and A-rated Fulshear High. The district added a handful of new schools to accommodate the area’s growing population, and as of late 2025, Haygood Elementary and Roberts Middle are unrated on Niche.

Green spaces, swimming pools and events keep residents active

The Club at Tamarron is the community’s main recreation hub and is open to all residents. It features a pool with a water slide, a lap pool and a splashpad, tennis and basketball courts and a soccer field. A fitness center is located inside. Smaller parks with playgrounds, a dog park, pickleball courts and walking trails are scattered throughout the rest of the community. Al Kayali says the neighborhood also has regular events for residents. “Yoga. Movie nights. You name it,” he says.

H-E-B and restaurants nearby, more in nearby Katy

Residents head to FM-1463, a major roadway just east of the neighborhood in Katy, to pick up groceries at H-E-B and dine out at Rasoi & Oh! Pizza, a local spot that serves Indian dishes, pizza and pasta. While Downtown Fulshear has some restaurants and local businesses, Katy is most residents’ first choice when it comes to dining out, running errands or shopping. Katy Mills is popular mall with stores like Burlington, COACH Outlet and J. Crew Factory. Big box stores like Walmart and Costco flank the stretch of Interstate 10 that runs through Katy, along with dozens of restaurants. Katy Asian Town is another big shopping center with some of the area’s best Asian restaurants, including Phat Eatery, a 2022 James Beard Award semifinalist that serves authentic Malaysian street food.

FM-1463, I-10 and Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital are nearby

There is a bike lane along part of Tamarron Place, one of the community’s major thoroughfares, but residents largely get around by car. There is also no fixed bus route in the community or just outside of it. Residents hop on nearby FM-1463 Road to connect to neighboring cities and towns. Interstate 10 is also nearby. Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital is the closest medical center with an emergency room and is about 8 miles away.
