Located near Interstate 635, the quaint neighborhood of Axe offers plenty of convenience and easy access to nearby attractions. This residential community in southeastern Garland is close to several Dallas activities and has a few of its own. “Over on that side of town, you have the arboretum, which is a great area,” says Pamela Yoakum, a Realtor with JPAR Southlake. “You have White Rock Lake not that far from it. Early college program at South Garland High School
Students in Axe are assigned to attend schools within the Garland Independent School District. Starting in pre-kindergarten, children may attend Caldwell Elementary School, which earns a B-minus grade from Niche. In sixth grade, students may attend C-plus-graded Sam Houston Middle School before moving to South Garland High School. South Garland High offers an early college program where students can earn up to 60 college credits and an associate degree while still in high school through a partnership with Eastfield College. These students can still participate in extracurricular activities at South Garland and will also have access to Eastfield’s campus and resources.

Close to Interstate 635
Axe is about 2 miles from Interstate 635, which provides easy access to much of the Metroplex. Downtown Dallas is a 15-mile drive from the neighborhood, and residents can use the Dallas Area Rapid Transit bus system, otherwise known as DART, from the stop on the corner of Saturn Road and Lewis Drive. Downtown Fort Worth is a 48-mile drive from Axe. For flights, the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is 28 miles away. The closest hospital is the White Rock Medical Center, 5 miles away.

Cuquita’s is a hometown Mexican restaurant that is one of three locations in the Metroplex and is famous for its fresh, homemade tortillas. “It’s real authentic Mexican food,” says Candace Castillo, a local property manager. “The green chicken enchiladas there are great.” Gold Mine Café serves American food, including burgers and steak and has daily specials for both lunch and dinner.
