Subdivisions and horse farms beside downtown Georgetown
Many move to Northeast Georgetown to be close to the Toyota Assembly Plant, while others prefer this communtiy for its easy access to both Lexington and Frankfort. "We're located in central Kentucky, so Georgetown serves as a central hub connecting Louisville, Lexington and Cincinnati, all within a short drive," says Dylan Marson, resident and communications manager for Georgetown/Scott County Tourism. "Despite the bustling road traffic and the frequent passage of motor coaches, many new residents are drawn to the town's preserved small-town charm," Marson says. "With a population nearing 40,000, Georgetown maintains a cherished Mayberry feel. While we are experiencing growth, the community successfully avoids succumbing to urban sprawl, allowing residents to enjoy the benefits of expansion without compromising their beloved town atmosphere." Northeast Georgetown borders the city's downtown, and it's here that buyers will find new homes in subdivisions or situated within the sprawling countryside.

Celebrate Kentucky's horse culture at the Festival of the Horse and Keeneland
"The standout event of the year is the Festival of the Horse," Marson says. "It's a massive downtown celebration lasting three days in September. It draws nearly 25,000 to 30,000 attendees for the weekend and the festival attracts crowds from high-density areas like Cincinnati." The festival's Grand Parade of Horses features horses of all breeds trotting down Main Street, a proud celebration of Kentucky's horse culture. Other festivities include live music, artisan vendors, a craft beer garden and the annual Fireman's Chili Cook-off. Seventeen miles south, another popular venue, Keeneland, hosts world-class horse races each October and April. "Everyone knows about the Kentucky Derby, but Keeneland is the go-to around here for racegoers and anybody who appreciates horse culture," Marson says. "Keeneland is the most beautiful track of any track ever," adds Charla Reed, executive director of Visit Jessamine. "The greenery there is just gorgeous."
