Neatly kept lawns and trimmed saplings line this neighborhood's loops and cul-de-sacs. Bungalows have wide, one to two-story layouts for maximum accessibility and comfort. A mix of stucco, limestone and granite gives each house a texture and earthy feel that complements the natural beauty of the surrounding region. Though Sun City was established in 1996, many houses were built within the last 20 years, and some are brand-new constructions. Homes here often cost between $320,000 and more than $840,000.
The active, communal lifestyle of its residents defines Sun City. The neighborhood is positively teeming with spaces for pickleball, swimming, softball and more. Over 17 miles of hiking trails wind all throughout the hills and valleys. For a more freeform, relaxing day, folks can head to the private dog park or vast community garden. Veteran’s Memorial Park commemorates soldiers from World War I to the present day and lies at the literal and figurative heart of the community. The intellectually curious find fascination in Georgetown’s cultural district. Among the historic buildings are an abundance of museums, art galleries and performance venues. Admire the unique murals and sculptures, see a play at the Georgetown Palace Theater, or curl up with a book at Georgetown Public Library.
For groceries, folks stop at Randall’s on William’s Drive, which sits next to multiple shops, salons, and restaurants. A favorite is Tejano Cookers BBQ & Catering Company. Picnic tables surround this humble food truck lauded for its tender brisket and ribs.
Sun City is somewhat walkable and bikeable but pretty car-dependent overall. Getting to Georgetown proper takes about 15 minutes. Downtown Austin is a 40 to 50-minute drive depending on traffic.
