With 13 athletic programs, 13 career tech education certifications, and an outstanding graduation rate of over 95 percent, it’s no wonder these schools are so highly rated. Goodwater Montessori School serves over 300 students in the area while Orenda Charter Schools serves over 1,800 across five campuses. Residents pursuing private education have several options, including faith-based schools and private daycares. Georgetown also houses Southwestern University, a private four-year school situated east of downtown. Additional higher education institutes, like the University of Texas at Austin and St. Edward's University, are located only a short drive south from Georgetown.
Commuting in Georgetown
This lively city is nestled just 30 minutes north of Austin along Interstate 35, making it an ideal location for commuters to settle down. Over 90 percent of the population drives or carpools to work with a commute averaging around 27 minutes. Conveniently, public transportation is also an option. The city offers affordable bus routes as well as paratransit services. Georgetown also provides a Greyhound bus service. Apart from its walkable downtown district, the city is not overly pedestrian-friendly, so car and bus are the optimal ways to scoot around town. For those hoping to catch a flight, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is only 35 miles south of the city and makes traveling out of the city, state, or country easy for Georgetown residents.
