Glendale Avenue and Brand Street dining and shopping
Much of Mariposa's retail and dining is along South Glendale Avenue or South Brand Street. Sam's Armenian Bakery is known for its lahmajun, which some call Armenian pizza. Among a diverse assortment of restaurants, there's La Cubana Restaurant, which has been open since 1973. Mamita Peruvian Restaurant has specialties like spaghetti dish Sallarin Saltado, and Elena's Greek Armenian Restaurant is known for home-style classics. Maple Market, Adams Supper Market and JONS Fresh Marketplace have produce and pantry staples.
Northwest of the neighborhood is The Americana at Brand, a shopping and lifestyle destination with over 75 businesses, including a movie theater. Nearby Glendale Galleria has more than 200 stores. "Both are perfect spots for shopping — including luxury brands — and for dining and enjoying the outdoor atmosphere," Rezazadeh says.
Elena’s colorful wall murals and warm lighting create a welcoming, old-world atmosphere.
