Affordable prices, popular parks and good schools in Glen Hills

Glen Hills is located in the city of Glendale, just north of Milwaukee. While many of Glendale’s neighborhoods share a similar suburban character, Glen Hills sets itself apart with relatively affordable home prices compared to some surrounding areas. “It’s probably a little more midcentury modern homes,” says Pete Gohsman, Realtor with the Gohsman Group of Keller Williams Milwaukee North Shore, who lives in Glendale. “It’s a nice neighborhood. It’s maybe a little lower price point than the Bender neighborhood nearby.” Once enticed by value, residents enjoy the nearby popular parks and highly rated schools.

Midcentury ranch-style and Colonial Revival houses are most common

Condos and multifamily developments sit off Green Bay Avenue, and apartment buildings are on the neighborhood's opposite side. But past the roads that form the outline of the area, Glen Hills takes on a traditional suburban feel. Midcentury homes, often ranch-style or Colonial Revival, have moderately sized lots with landscaped yards. Some properties back small lakes, with backyard water views. Duplexes and condos sell between $130,000 and $190,000, while the single-family homes go from $330,000 to $460,000.

Kletzsch Park lies directly across Green Bay Avenue from Glen Hills. The park has sports facilities like baseball fields and an archery range, plus a playground. Trails run alongside the Milwaukee River, which borders the park. Gohsman points out the river's falls at Kletzsch Park as an excellent spot for fly fishing. Glendale community events at nearby parks

Glendale’s biggest community event is its annual Fourth of July Celebration at Kletzsch Park. The party includes food trucks, a parade and a fireworks display, plus a “summer soak” from a fire engine, keeping kids cool. The city also hosts concerts over the summer at Glendale Community Park, featuring local acts at the amphitheater. Bayshore is home to outdoor markets throughout the summer, with nights themed to local artists.

Freeway and bus access for commuters, though some work in Glendale

While the main roads around Glen Hills have sidewalks, residents generally drive to their destinations. Interstate 43 is roughly 2 miles from the neighborhood, leading south through Glendale to downtown Milwaukee, 8 miles away. Commuters can also take public transportation, as the Milwaukee County Transit System operates bus lines throughout Glendale, including a stop on Green Bay Avenue adjacent to the neighborhood. However, many residents work in Glendale at one of the several employers in the city. “The freeway splits the city of Glendale, so it’s obviously super easy to get anywhere you need to go,” Gohsman says. “I’d say a lot of people probably commute downtown, but there are plenty of other local businesses that people work at.”

Glendale's flood risk mainly around Milwaukee River

Parts of Glendale can experience minor-to-moderate flooding, though Glen Hills is less susceptible due to its location farther from the Milwaukee River and Lincoln Creek. In August 2025, record rainfall caused property damage and closed roadways within the city.
