Bordering Foots Creek is the Valley of the Rogue State Park, which sits along three miles of the Rogue River’s shoreline. The park features several picnic areas, overnight campsites and riverfront trails, including the 4-mile Rogue River Greenway Trail. Adjacent to the park is the Mountain of the Rogue Trail System, a network of approximately seven miles of mountain biking trails that offers unobstructed valley views. Residents also go to the Rogue River for aquatic recreational activities, like rafting. “There are quiet stretches of river ideal for just floating on inner tubes, and for those wanting a bit of a wilder ride on rafts or kayaks, there are places with swifter currents and rapids,” says Kari DeBré, a local broker with Oregon Dreams Real Estate. “Typically, local rafters depart from the towns of Rogue River, Gold Hill, Grants Pass and Merlin.”

For additional shopping and dining options, DeBré says that residents in this area usually go to the nearby town of Rogue River 5 miles away. “In Rogue River, you can find Mexican cuisine, pizza, Italian, Thai, sushi – there’s also a Subway sandwich shop, a dine-in coffeehouse and a drive-thru coffee shop,” she says. “Folks often go to either Medford or Grants Pass for more dining choices.”
