Mountain community with close proximity to Denver

Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the Eagle Ridge neighborhood in Golden, Colorado, combines natural beauty with suburban convenience. About 15 miles west of downtown Denver, residents enjoy outdoor adventures and scenic landscapes while being a short drive from city amenities. “You’re right down the road from Golden’s downtown area, and you’re a little bit closer to Denver than you would be in some parts of Golden,” says Rebecca Strobel, real estate agent with RE/MAX Professionals and Golden resident for over 20 years. “It’s not quite as ‘tucked away’ as some places in Golden, but it’s a really great blend of access and charm.”

Variety of homes with scenic views

Eagle Ridge has mostly single-family homes and styles range from modern contemporaries to traditional designs. "Depending on what part of the neighborhood you’re in, you might have a home that has Apex Open Space as its backyard,” says Strobel. “It’s a popular spot for having some of the mountain resort-like atmosphere you might get from nearby neighborhoods like Beverly Heights, but at a lower entry point in terms of pricing.” Prices for traditional single-family homes typically range from $675,000 to $975,000, while larger estates on significant acreage can reach $1.6 million. Land is also available for those who want to build.

Strong schools in the Jefferson County School District

The neighborhood is covered by the Jefferson County School District. Elementary students typically attend Shelton Elementary School, which earns a B-plus rating from Niche. Students can then move on to Bell Middle School, also rated B-plus. High school students can attend Golden High School, which holds an A-minus rating and is recognized for its strong academic programs and community involvement, with job shadowing programs offering hands-on experience for students.

Outdoor recreation at the doorstep

Living in Eagle Ridge means immediate access to outdoor opportunities. The neighborhood is adjacent to Apex Park, which has miles of hiking and mountain biking trails suitable for all levels. Nearby Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre provides hiking trails and host concerts. "The easy access to trails and parks is a major draw for residents," notes Strobel. “That’s part of the Golden lifestyle – having that access, along with access to Denver, right outside the door.” The Clear Creek Trail is a paved path along the water, connecting residents to downtown Golden. The Kearney Running trail is popular with joggers and walkers.

Stay close to home or take a quick trip to Denver

Downtown Golden, just minutes away, features a variety of shops and restaurants. Local favorites include Woody's Wood-Fired Pizza and Sherpa House Restaurant, which offers Himalayan cuisine. The Golden Farmers Market operates seasonally and provides fresh produce and artisan goods. Bean Fosters is the go-to spot for daily doses of caffeine and pastries. Residents have grocery stores like King Soopers and Safeway for everyday needs. The Colorado Mills Mall, about five miles east, offers additional retail stores and dining options. The Coors brewery is another popular destination in town. “There’s plenty of options in Golden, so you don’t really ever feel the need to fight traffic or go out of your way to Denver,” says Strobel. “That’s always a nice option, but you have what you need close to home.”

Convenient commuting options to Denver and beyond

Eagle Ridge's location provides easy access to major highways such as U.S. Highway 6 and Interstate 70. Residents can reach downtown Denver in about 20 to 30 minutes by car, depending on traffic. The RTD light rail's Jefferson County Government Center–Golden Station is nearby, offering public transportation to Denver and other destinations. Denver International Airport is 35 miles east, accessible via Interstate 70. Though crews are quick to clear roads, many residents weather-equip their vehicles during colder months.
