In the gated Aldea subdivision, a handful of larger 21st-century new traditional homes have four to five bedrooms and sit on acre-sized lots. Landscaping is professionally manicured, and most homes have special features like guest houses and sprawling pools with jacuzzis. Prices typically range from $1 million to $1.4 million, depending on a home's size and features.
In the Deer Run subdivision, two-bedroom townhomes from the early 2000s wrap around a sidewalk-lined cul-de-sac. Layouts range from about 1,000 to 1,400 square feet, and lots range from 600 to 700 square feet; attached garages are standard. Residents have shared access to a community pool, as well as basketball and sand volleyball courts. Prices range from $275,000 to $350,000, depending on a townhome's layout and lot size.
Staying active at Goodyear Recreation Campus
On the paved walking paths that connect Canyon Trails’ subdivisions, it’s common to see neighbors walking their dogs, riding bikes and going for a morning jog. Throughout the neighborhood, there are also a couple of pocket parks with tree-lined playing fields and playgrounds.Less than a mile south, Goodyear Recreation Campus is an 86-acre complex with a park, aquatic center and rec center. “It's a family-friendly area with lots of activities and entertainment to explore,” Remwolt says. The campus’ 30-acre park offers brightly colored, shade-sail-covered playgrounds, and lighted courts for tennis, basketball, pickleball and sand volleyball; there are also playing fields and two baseball diamonds. At the rec center, folks can hit the gym and sign up for fitness and lifestyle classes, like group yoga and teen art workshops. The aquatic center’s multiple pools, lazy river and water slide are an oasis in the summer, when temperatures here regularly top 100 degrees. The campus also hosts annual events like Goodyear Rocks in October, where locals can catch emerging bands and enjoy an array of food trucks.
Goodyear schools receive high marks from Niche
Local kids can attend kindergarten through Grade 8 at one of two neighborhood schools: Desert Thunder School, rated B by Niche, or Copper Trails School, rated B-minus. Desert Thunder School offers the Dual Language Immersion Program, where kids receive both Spanish- and English-language instruction during the day. At the B-rated Desert Edge High, students can join the Agricultural Education program for hands-on experience in the industry.Events at the Goodyear Ballpark
Goodyear Ballpark, home of the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians baseball teams, is 3 miles southeast. Residents can catch major league games here during spring training, from February through March. The ballpark also hosts several annual celebrations, like the Arizona Balloon Classic in January—a three-day event with hot air balloon rides, food trucks and lots of live entertainment. In July, the Star Spangled Fourth event celebrates Independence Day with games, music and a striking firework display.Getting around from Goodyear
Interstate 10 borders Canyon Trails to the north, leading 22 miles east to Phoenix. Route 303 borders Canyon Trails to the west, and Estrella Parkway, the neighborhood's main thoroughfare, is found in the east. Streets here are typically lined with sidewalks and bike lanes, but most locals drive to get around, and there isn’t any nearby public transportation. Dignity Health AZ General Hospital borders the neighborhood to the east. The neighborhood has several shopping and dining areas. In the central west, Canyon Trails Towne Center includes a Target and a Dollar Tree, as well as national chain eateries like Denny's. East along North Estrella Parkway, there's Safeway, a Walmart Supercenter and Aldi, as well as national chain restaurants like Red Lobster. Also on North Estrella, Enroute Coffee and Tea serves locally roasted coffee and seasonal drinks like a churro frappe and apple cider donut chai. Next door, Saddle Mountain Brewing Company is the neighborhood go-to for craft beer on tap, comfort food and specialty cocktails like the Baklava, with vanilla vodka, amaretto, pistachio and honey. There’s also live music here on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
