Neighborhood in Goodyear, Arizona
Maricopa County 85338
Mediterranean-style new traditional homes along cul-de-sacs
Set close together along sidewalk-lined cul-de-sacs, the neighborhood's new traditional homes date mostly to the late 1990s; some in the east were built in the 2020s. All have Mediterranean design elements like clay-tiled roofs and earth-toned stucco exteriors, as well as prominent two- or three-car garages, and paved driveways where basketball hoops are a common sight. Residents usually plant low-water shrubs and cacti in their front yards, and often have backyard swimming pools where they can cool down in the desert heat. Layouts range from 1,000 to 3,100 square feet, with between three and five bedrooms. Prices range from $300,000 to $600,000, depending on size and age, and monthly homeowners association fees range from $15 to $90, covering ground maintenance.Pools at the Goodyear Recreation Campus
In the neighborhood’s southeast, the 86-acre Goodyear Recreation Campus includes a 30-acre park with a playground and an indoor recreation area; the outdoor aquatics center has two pools and plenty of shade, and its two water slides and lazy river are a hit with kids. Two other neighborhood parks, Wildflower Park North and Wildflower Park South, offer their own playgrounds and green space. To the south of Wildflower Ranch, the nearly 20,000-acre Estrella Mountain Regional Park has over 33 miles of rugged trails, popular for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. On hot days, residents can cool off with a movie at Harkins Theatres Estrella Falls 16.Graphic design courses at Desert Edge High
Local kids can start school either at the public Wildflower Accelerated Academy, which teaches prekindergarten through Grade 8 and earns a B-plus from Niche, or at BASIS Goodyear, a public charter school. “Charter schools are very popular in the West Valley,” Poyner says. BASIS Goodyear’s primary school earns an A, while its middle and high schools each earn an A-plus; seniors at BASIS Goodyear can take a college counseling seminar where a counselor helps them apply for colleges and financial aid. At the B-rated public Desert Edge High, kids can enroll in Career and Technical Education courses in topics like graphic design and sports medicine, and they can join over 20 varsity sports teams, including golf and football.Spring training at Goodyear Ballpark
From mid-February to late March, baseball fans flood Goodyear Ballpark to watch their favorite Major League players play pre-season games during spring training. Outside of spring training, the ballpark hosts regional and national baseball tournaments, plus movie nights, concerts and food truck festivals. The community park on the Goodyear Recreation Campus also hosts popular community events, like the Star Spangled Fourth, which has bounce houses, food trucks and a fireworks show. Each October, the Goodyear Rocks music festival draws rock-n-roll fans to listen to local bands.
A mile south of Interstate 10
Interstate 10 is just over a mile north, leading 22 miles east to downtown Phoenix; state Route 303 is around a mile west. There are bike lanes and sidewalks here, but with no public transportation, most residents rely on their cars to get around. Dignity Health Arizona General Hospital Emergency Room is less than a mile northeast. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which has domestic and international commercial flights, is 25 miles east, while the Phoenix Goodyear Airport, a general aviation airport that mainly serves as a reliever and maintenance airport for Sky Harbor, is about 4 miles southeast.Live music at Saddle Mountain Brewing Company
For a quick bite to eat, Zheng’s Kitchen is the go-to spot for Chinese takeout, and the fast-food chain Culver’s is known for its ButterBurgers and frozen custard sundaes. The locally owned Haymaker Goodyear, about 5 miles northeast, serves up big breakfast platters and in-house smoked barbecue. For a night out, Saddle Mountain Brewing Company has house-brewed beer, cocktails and bar food, and they host live music on the patio every Wednesday and Thursday from September through May. Big-box retailers like Target and Walmart are about a mile away, and nearby grocery stores include Fry’s Marketplace, Safeway and ALDI.
