A suburban neighborhood standing out in a rural setting
Clover Trails is a residential neighborhood just across Plymouth Avenue from Black Squirrel Golf Club. Developed from the mid-1990s to the present, it is one of the few residential areas in this part of Goshen. Though the neighborhood is suburban in feel with its winding streets, sidewalks and uniform lot sizes, Clover Trails’ surroundings are decidedly rural. Shanklin and Millrace Parks are just east of the neighborhood, and most of the land directly south and west of Clover Trails is either farmland or wooded.
Single-family homes and detached condos built in 1990s and 2000s
There is a mix of condominiums and single-family houses in Clover Trails, though the differences are subtle. Condos are detached, cottage-style homes and neighborhood association fees cover exterior services like lawn care and snow removal. Condos range between $225,000 and $250,000. Houses in the neighborhood vary between ranch-style homes and two-story contemporary custom designs on larger lots than the neighborhood’s condos. House sales range between $250,000 and $350,000.
Clover Trails has plenty of condos for those looking for a cozier place to live.

Hay Park features Goshen's first fully inclusive playground
Hay Park, on the neighborhood’s northern edge, is arguably its finest feature. “Hay Park has a fully inclusive playground, community gardens, walking trails and a rentable pavilion,” says Hannah Scott-Carter, Community Relations Manager for the City of Goshen. The playground opened in 2019 as the city's first fully inclusive playground, featuring ramps and special equipment that make it accessible to children regardless of mobility. Nearby, Shanklin Park has softball and baseball diamonds as well as Goshen’s largest outdoor public pool. It connects to the primarily wooded Millrace Park via the 2.5-mile-long Shanklin-Millrace Canal Trail. Black Squirrel Golf Club is an 18-hole public course undergoing improvements after being purchased by a new ownership group in 2023, including indoor simulator leagues to help golfers get through the winter months.

Plymouth Avenue leads across the river to downtown
Plymouth Avenue crosses the Elkhart River and Millrace Canal on the way eastward to downtown Goshen. Indiana Avenue leads northward to the primary commercial area west of the river. As the junior high’s many bike racks indicate, Clover Trails is a bike-friendly neighborhood, earning a 63/100 Bike Score. However, no public transportation is available, making a vehicle necessary for further travel.
A short ride to South Side Soda Shop
Clover Trails is just over a mile from one of Goshen’s most iconic restaurants. Guy Fieri himself visited South Side Soda Shop in the first season of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” and Steve Buscemi used the diner as a location for his 2005 directorial debut. The Soda Shop, which still has a functioning 1940s soda fountain, is a seven-time winner for serving Michiana’s best chili, and its lemon meringue won the Indiana Pie Quest Contest. Grocery options on Goshen’s west side include Kroger and Martin’s Super Market, and several local and fast food restaurants are in the same area of U.S. Highway 33.

Sirens keep residents aware of tornado threat
Goshen has citywide tornado warning sirens and communicates with residents when the system is tested. Though they don’t hit the area regularly, F4 tornadoes that struck in and around Goshen in 1942 and 1965 were among the most destructive in Indiana's history.
The City of Goshen Fire Department tests the city's tornado sirens periodically.
