A stone's throw across the river from Downtown Goshen
Just a mile from downtown and even closer to a busy commercial corridor on the west side of the Elkhart River, West Goshen is a residential neighborhood that provides residents plenty of convenience. The presence of West Goshen Elementary School, plus multiple parks and churches within walking distance, helps make the area a popular place for Goshen families to settle. “Everything’s pretty centrally located,” says Annie Logan, a broker with Century 21. “It’s an easy commute to pretty much everywhere from West Goshen.”
Housing styles reflect city's westward expansion in 1900s
The City of Goshen originally developed east of the Elkhart River in the mid to late 19th century. When the city expanded west of the river near the turn of the 20th century, the first houses were built in West Goshen, and some of them remain today. Prairie and Craftsman homes built in the early 20th century and mid-century ranch-style homes are the most common in the neighborhood. Recent home sales range between $140,000 and $270,000.
