“A lot of Grafton residents commute for work,” says Benway. “Some to Worcester, some to Providence, even Boston.” Using Massachusetts State Route 146, locals can get northwest to Worcester in about 10 miles or south to Providence in about 35. On Pine Street, an MBTA commuter rail leads into Boston. The Massachusetts Turnpike, or “The Pike” as locals call it, cuts horizontally through the neighborhood and will lead locals out of their cozy semi-rural homes to surrounding areas.
