Country living 6 miles south of Grants Pass
Deep in the Applegate Valley, quiet roads lead to the country homes and horse pastures of New Hope. “You’d have to live here to recognize the name,” says Kendon Leet, area local and owner of Kendon Leet Real Estate. “It’s rural with a lot of mini-farms, but just ten minutes to town max.” While New Hope doesn’t have the name recognition of Grants Pass, the city 6 miles to the north, it does attract those searching for a homestead full of rustic tranquility.
New Hope Road takes you directly to New Hope, while Williams Highway takes you to Murphy.

The 10-mile Cathedral Hills trail system
Along the Applegate River, locals can “Fish, kayak, swim and do the typical river activities,” Leet says. “It’s a clear-flowing, smaller river, which is nice.” Surrounded by green hills near the river is the Applegate River Golf Club, a nine-hole facility with food service and a pro shop. Golfers might spot a deer or the resident rooster named Eagle while on the course. Eagle is a mild-mannered bird who likes to keep golfers company at the fourth and fifth holes. Ten miles of trails crisscross nearby Cathedral Hills, ranging from easy to moderate terrain for hiking, biking, dog walking and horseback riding. Wildflowers bloom along the paths in the springtime. Hikers and mountain bikers can also venture up Bolt Mountain to the west of the neighborhood. The Bolt Mountain Trail is a challenging route, totaling about 7 miles roundtrip and offering views of densely forested hills at the summit.
The trails at Cathedral Hills are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
Many New Hope residents enjoy traveling down to Applegate River Golf Club.
