Where Grants Pass meets the Oregon countryside
The views from the front porch of a Redwood home are unobstructed by the trees that characterize the surrounding rural neighborhoods. “Redwood is on the urban growth boundary of Grants Pass,” says Ann James, area local and Sheckells Realty broker. On the sprawling western edge of town, Redwood offers residents flat land for farming and gardening. While it has the benefits of a rural neighborhood, Redwood is less than 3 miles from the nearest grocery store and hospital.
The Redwood community features country roads.

Farmland, Craftsmans and manufactured homes
The neighborhood has views of distant hills and country roads instead of sidewalks. Craftsman-style homes, some of which are 2024 constructions, are common throughout Redwood. Many homes have fenced-in land suited for a horse pasture. Some homes use city sewer and water, while others have septic and well water. Prices fall from $400,000 to $700,000. Redwood also includes multifamily homes in the $400,000s. Manufactured homes – some of which are part of 55+ communities – cost between $110,000 and $450,000. Land between five and 10 acres ranges from $305,000 to $825,000.

Saturdays at the Grants Pass Growers Market
With its patio seating decked out with twinkling lights, The Vine offers an intimate, farm-to-table dining atmosphere. It serves Italian specialties made with local ingredients, including gluten-free options. Every Saturday, residents can mingle with local vendors, farmers, musicians and artisans at the lively Grants Pass Growers Market. “It’s one of the best farmers markets in southern Oregon,” James says. “It takes up probably an acre’s worth of land, even though it’s in a parking lot. They close the streets. And in the winter, it’s moved to the fairgrounds, which are indoors.” Groceries at Albertsons and more shopping options await in Grants Pass.
The Vine produces freshly prepared Italian dishes for all of Grants Pass.

Exercising at Schroeder Park and exploring the wilderness
Along Redwood’s northern boundary, Schroeder Park includes amenities for recreation of all sorts. Locals can camp and fish here along the Rogue River. Families can head to the playground after school and watch the park’s leaves turn golden-yellow in the fall. Friends can catch up over a basketball game or tennis match. The park even includes two dog runs – one for the big dogs and one for the little ones.
Redwood residents “can be in total wilderness within ten to fifteen minutes,” James says. “The area is backed up to a lot of BLM [Bureau of Land Management] and Forest Service properties where people go fishing, hiking, mountain bike riding, horseback riding and ATVing.” With the proximity to this forested wilderness comes a risk of forest fires. As the neighborhood gets more rural to the west, it has an increased fire risk. The air can get smoky when forest fires burn in the region. Additionally, Redwood, like all of southern Oregon, experiences some high temperatures in the summer.
Schroeder County Park has direct access to the Rogue River.
