“The Heart of Hometown America” casts across Gravette’s water tower. With small Mom and Pop restaurants, a humble historical museum and trails of quiet walking and biking paths, Gravette embraces the long-standing small-town title. Traditional ranchers feature brick exteriors, and shotgun cottages stretch back from small front-yard plots. Other single-story houses feature vinyl facades with low-gabled roofs. Larger homes are available in a variety of styles.

On the grumpiest of mornings, you can visit Grumpy’s Coffee for a hot latte and a cinnamon roll. Once there, you’ll find that the grumpiness does not run deep. This popular local spot greets guests with a bright yellow storefront. 60s-style posters of peace and love plaster the walls, and a drive-thru treats on-the-go grumpiness. Less than a half mile south, signs fade along the painted wood exterior of Hard Luck Café, immediately embracing the rustic look of a roadside diner. This spot is known for its indulgent fried onion rings. While this café has only operated for a little over 10 years, owners claim the restaurant business has been in their family legacy since 1910.

A high school, middle school, and two elementary schools cluster in the eastern neighborhood. Gravette School District participates in RISE (Reading Initiative for Student Excellence) Arkansas, a program that provides tips and encouragement for students’ at-home reading habits. After school, youth can walk a half mile north to visit the colorful playground at Old Town Park. The park also includes a dog park and a disc golf course. From Old Town Park, residents can hop on the paved bike trail that loops surrounding streets. Within the loop, Gravette Pool and Splash Park wards off the heat. This spot is a popular spot for families in the summer. In east Gravette, Pop Allum Park offers baseball fields and a skate park. The park connects to another walking trail, ideal for enjoying a meditative nature walk.

The Gravette Historical Museum unveils the community’s roots just east of the splash pad, offering a quieter atmosphere. The Kindley House, a historic brick home, is a walk-through display of memorabilia and decades-old photographs. To further indulge in the area’s history, Gravette Day annually celebrates the community with a slew of outdoor festivities like a car show and parade.

For everyday needs, residents can visit Harp’s Food Store in central Gravette. Local schools and community service centers, like the postal center and the library, attract employment. When residents return home, the seasonal leaves paint Gravette as a quiet rural home.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
