Located 9 miles from Downtown Houma, Gray is a commuter town known for its location. "You're very close to Houma and shopping, but still feel like you're in a small hometown," says Robin Harris, a Realtor with CHT Group Real Estate. In addition to location, the housing prices in Gray stand out compared to some nearby communities. Like much of south Louisiana, Gray is at risk for hurricanes and tropical storms. "You are far enough away compared to the towns right on the Gulf, but you still get potential damage," Harris says.

Oakshire Park sits just south of Gray along Main Street. The park features a vibrant green and blue playground with a slide, tire swing and climbing equipment. The dog-friendly park has a vast green space next to the playground for sports, games and other activities. Main Street leads to Houma
Main Street and Park Avenue are the main roadways running down the center of town. Travelers can follow these roads south to Houma, 9 miles away, or north to Thibodaux, 7 miles away. Public transportation is limited, so residents rely on their vehicles to get around. Highway 90 runs East and West through Gray and leads directly into New Orleans, about 60 miles away. Along the same path, about 45 miles away, is Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, which offers domestic and international flights. Thibodaux Regional Multi-Specialty Clinic is the nearest hospital, about 9 miles south in Houma.
