Large lots in southern Greeley
In south Greeley, off Route 34 is Rolling Hills, one of the older parts of town near the University of Northern Colorado. “It’s established and it’s one of the more desirable neighborhoods in town,” says Carli Nitzel of Rouse Realty, who is a Greeley native and has been an agent in the area for over a decade. “Because the homes are older, the lots have more space, which is something people here are looking for.” Homes are just a mile from the University of Northern Colorado, which is home to 9,000 students and 700 academic staff. While the large lots and mature trees of Rolling Hills evoke a quiet lifestyle, homes near Route 34 will experience noise from highway traffic.
Midcentury ranch-style homes
Homes in Rolling Hills are older properties, mostly built in the 1950s and 60s. The properties are all single-family homes and 73% of the population is made up of homeowners. Houses are ranch-style builds with brick or vinyl facades. “Even though the properties are a touch older than the rest of Greeley, they’re larger than some neighborhoods and very well built,” says Nitzel. Properties cost between $305,000 and $440,000. Homes tend to have large front and backyards shaded by large oak trees. Houses have private driveways and many either have a single-car garage or car port.
Tennis at Farr Park
Rolling Hills doesn’t feature any parks in the neighborhood, but the area is surrounded by plenty of recreation spaces. Brentwood Park is just to the west offering extensive greenspace and a playground for children. Residents head to Farr Park, just a couple of blocks east of most homes to shoot hoops on the full-size basketball court. The park also has tennis, pickleball and volleyball courts. The large Centennial Park is located a few miles north of Rolling Hills. Kids can cool off in the summer on the splash pad, take to the Olympic-sized swimming pool or ride down the water slide. Tennis players get a match in on one of the 12 courts and skaters can take to the paved skatepark.
Shopping at Greeley Mall
Locals head to the Greeley Mall, just south of the neighborhood across Route 34 for shopping and dining options. The Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity ReStore anchors the mall, home to furniture, appliances and more. Shoe stores, Western shops and clothing outlets are located throughout the mall. Residents head to the Cinemark to check out the latest Hollywood movies. Diners can see their meal prepared by trained chefs at Mount Fuji Sushi & Hibachi, just north of the mall. For a night out, Wyler’s Pub & Grill is a popular spot to grab a beer and play pool or arcade games like Golden Tee. Locals can get a taste of the south at Georgia Boys BBQ, which serves large platters of meats and sides in a casual setting. Residents can choose to grab groceries from a variety of chains including Walmart and King Soopers within a few miles of Rolling Hills.
Learning at Greeley Central High
Kids in Rolling Hills attend Jackson Elementary School, which is located in the neighborhood. Jackson Elementary is a part of the Greeley-Evans School District 6 and holds a B-minus Niche rating. Brentwood Middle School has a C-plus grade, while Greeley Central High School holds a B grade. Greeley Central provides after-school tutoring for all classes three days a week. In addition, students can participate in Saturday School, a weekend tutoring program designed to help struggling students each Saturday morning.
GET buses around Greeley
Locals can easily get around Greeley and beyond using the GET (Greeley Evans Transportation) system. GET has a handful of stops along 23rd Avenue. Commuters can hop on U.S. Route 85, about 50 miles to Denver, or take Interstate 25, 64 miles southwest to Boulder.
